  1. Hello one and all, I have been meaning to join a GB for a while now. I was going to enter the P-51 STGB, but typically I couldn't find my decals for the aircraft... anyhow, I was looking at this one thinking that I don't own anything that I could use - yeah, I was a wee bit wrong there. A quick check of the stash proves I have about 15 x F-15's, a few Intruders, a few Prowlers, a Hawkeye and a Greyhound. After checking with Tempestmk5, I know what can and can't be entered into this GB. So lets go! So I can not build the F-14's I have for Ace Combat, however I can build an F-14 from a film as it actually flew! No not THAT film, I'm starting with an F-14 from "The Final Countdown", never seen this film. Has anyone else? Is it worth watching? As far as I understand it, the F-14 on the cover is based on an VF-84 F-14 and not the one from the film as they have *MUCH* larger stars and bars beacuse - film plot? I also have the below... Now the Dragon F-14 is complete and utter garbage, but the F-18F is pretty decent. So I will replace the F-14 in this kit with an extra F-14 I have from Revell, which I have built before and loved the kit. See below... Please excuse how terrible the finish is, I built this on my return to the hobby 6-7 years ago. I remember enjoying building this kit then however. Depending how far I get I also have these to add.... You can see the decal option for "The Final Countdown" there as well. Now this is where the fun happens... the "others" I will bring to the table. I said I also have a Hawkeye and Greyhound to add to the party. However I can only build one, I know Enzo will come straight in and say "Build Both!" but unforunately that isn't possible as the Greyhound kit is a conversion for the Hawkeye and I only have one Hawkeye (for now). Pictures below... Now the same as the F-14A/D, I have also built the Hawkeye before. This was also upon my return to the hobby, but I am still pretty happy with the end result. Ignore the dirty black line, I was playing around with preshading with a sharpie. It didn't work... Then we have the Prowler and Intruder... I recon these two will have the most interest... Just trust me, there is two Prowlers and two Intruders in that box... infact there is alot of plastic in that box. Now the eagle eyed amoung you will have spotted the goodies next to the box... yes I have lots of goodies for these birds. See below! I do have a thing for Domi's stuff over at Retrowings - his stuff is sooo good! I only have enough for one Prowler but three for the Intruder (I have a single kit laying around somewhere). The ALQ-99's where purchased for a Growler kit, but i can use them here as well. Strange question - are the Prowlers wings the same as the Intruders? I mean for the wing fold bits. So while I am build at least 2 F-14's... not sure what else to add next... Hawkeye, Greyhound, Prowler or Intruder? Hopefully I can get at least one of these ladies finished as my record in GB's isn't fantastic. 🤣 Oh forgot to add that I also have two Dragon carrier decks to add *IF* I get the time. Now that I think about it, I have about 5 boxes of the Wildcat from Sweet... Kind Regards, Dazz
  2. Thank you for answering my questions, Patrice. Think I will be doing a VF-84 bird. That picture has given me an idea for a diorama. However I only have Zero's I don't own any T-5 Texans... Hhmm... No worries about the game related Tomcats. Don't ask, you don't know. Kind Regards, Dazz
  3. Afternoon all, Looking to join in with this one. I have quite a few subjects to build - more than I realised! Just out of curiosity, I know "what-ifs" are excluded but what about actual aircraft from movies/games? Only reason I ask is because I have decals for an F-14 in "The Final Countdown" - never seen that film. I also have an Hasegawa F-14 from Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War... Actually I have 3 or 4 F-14's from Ace Combat also I was going to do one from Macross (there is a connection here). Also I looked at the Wiki link that Tempestmk5 kindly put up, the B-2 isn't mentioned on there... I'm sure that's a Northrop aircraft but Wiki says "Northrop-Grumman"... Have I missed something? Kind Regards, Dazz
  4. Wow I really need to update my posts huh? So I have been working on Azaka - 阿座化 and Kamidake - 火美猛 over the last few months. Azaka has been finished more or less and Kamidake is getting there. Pictures below. I had bit of a fight with Kamidake. I put the decals in the wrong place, specifically the yellow/white fuselage bands. I need to tidy a few things up yet on Kamidake but I am getting there. Thinking I will start a Val/Wildcat next.
  5. Groovy! "Itasha" (痛車 - literally "Painful car"). They are meant to be an eye sore and only Otaku such as myself would be seen dead in one. I was going to do a custom one, but I need to find somewhere that will print out high quality decals for me. The scheme I am working on/planning is below. Basic skills within GIMP. But you get the idea, of course the purple would be metallic of some description. Kind Regards, Dazz
  6. Count me in, I have a few Skylines/RX-7's/Civic's/AE86's/Rally Cars to build for this. Are we ruling out Itasha cars at all? I really wouldn't search for "Itasha" at work just because of what turns up. Kind Regards, Dazz
  7. Oh wow I totally forgot about this! Pretty sure I put my name down too, guess I had better get my backside in gear and sort something out. I have about 8 Airfix Mustangs some of them from Jadlam now I think of it... But don't have that starter set. Kind Regards, Dazz
  8. Damn you Thud for that last picture! lol That one really does get to you huh? The Quess one is also a bit harsh... I noticed that there is a screen grab from Build Fighters Dive, haven't watched that yet. Any good? I think every episode has camero from one of the characters at least and was always fun trying to find them. Might have to rewatch TRY. Unfortunately Will, the core Fighter is just a lump of plastic in the HG version. It doesn't dock with the suit (as is mentioned in the episode). I was thinking maybe modifying it to do but it might be way too much work. But I have thought about it. The more I look at this suit the more I want to change it. I'm thinking of a Titans purple/blue colour on the "wings"... or maybe a version of the X-2. Kind Regards, Dazz
  9. Well, I think it reminds me of Deathsythe Hell if you want to split hairs. Lol Deathsythe didn't have the black wings. Then again you could say it has a bit of Sandrock Kai EW in it too... Hmm... I've never actually read the manga, if I can find a copy I'll give it a go. I know Crossbone is loved by the fans in the same way that Advance of Zeta/Sentienal are. You're correct Thud, it is one of the smaller suits like F-91 is and as such less armoured too, so a 120mm gun would kill it. I have a few ideas I want to use on it, thinking of stealing some of the parts from the X-2 as well. @LotusArenco I also love Build Fighters, it's such a simple idea that it's genius. It's a good way to get people into the show and Gunpla in general. It's also fun for a geek like me to pick out all of the easter eggs in it. I'm still not sure on the character gunplas they've released. The Archangel one is weird. However I've seen a Titans version of Fumina which I want to get - don't judge me! 😕 lol not sure Airfix could do the same, could you imagine the uproar if a kid put a 109's wings onto a Spitfire? Lol Think the first job will be to sort the cloth/armor. Kind Regards, Dazz
  10. So while moving ships today in EVE I was doing some work on this one. She is now finished as a model. I just need to plan what I am going to do with this. Here she is in all her glory. Even though this is am HG it is a tiny kit. Probably about the same size as Wing Zero. She is the same height as a can of coke... go on... ask how I know. I love the cutlass and sword. The Gun is pretty cool also. So now comes the planning stage. For some reason all of the white bits are pearlescent and makes it look very toy-ish. This will not be caried over to the new version. Just remember that I have 3 un-finished GM's in my stash.... need to find them and restart them. Kind Regards, Dazz
  11. Evening One and All, I've had this kit sitting on my shelf for a while and now, it's bugging me. So I decided to build it, please see below. This is the Team Try Fighters version and as far as I am aware the only version in HG? The "cloth" bit always reminds me of Deathsythe Hell which is also a cool mech. You can see the episode it's from below - this is uploaded by Gundam Info (Sunrise I believe) so it's all legal. I'm going to try an make it more the "original" version, I just need to find some decent source material for this. I did purchase loads of the re-released Bandai Decals a while back, so I can use the warning decals on that. I need to find somewhere that does the Skullheart ones tho or even a decent sized skull decal (not The Skull and Crossbones). This will be a long term project at the end of this I have a spaceship to build. All the sprues... yay Stuff I can't read... Pretty pictures and more stuff I can't read.... Cool pictures and the Core Fighter, but more writing I can't read. This is where I was up to the other day. Not sure I like the armor plates/thrusters being attached as they are. More to follow... Kind Regards, Dazz
  12. Sorry dude. Nothing will ever beat 08th MS Team (my favourite VA is in it for a start) but Unicorn comes a close 2nd. It's a cool looking Gundam, not as cool as the Deep Striker however... but thats more of a mobile armor that mobile suit. Lets not forget my beloved Hazel's either The main ship even looks likes a pirate ship... it's very novel. Stardust Memory is a great show, very dated music and hair styles wise (it hasn't aged well). The fight with the GP-01 at the end, pure class. I really am loving the work you are putting into this Brundledonk, I could learn alot from this post. Kind Regards, Dazz
  13. As far as I am aware, only the Rifleman and Marauder are ripped off from Macross... Actually I think there's a Valkyrie but can't remember it's name in Battletech lore. You can buy a 1/20 scale Super Valkyrie, but expect to get a loan out for it. The only "kits" of Mechs I know off are free to download papercraft models. I am planning a scale model of a Stormcrow/Ryoken, just need to plan it out first. Kind Regards, Dazz
  14. Kamille and Emmas machine is actually the same machine. In the beginning of the show she pilots a Rick Dias, but after the Zeta Gundam is built she's given the Mk.II by Kamille. It's at this point that the Mk.II can dock with the G-Defenser to make the Super Gundam. This is a very watered down version of what happens. I can't remember if Emma is a Newtyle or not... Thud? Just a shame what happens to her. I've started building the XM-1 Crossbone Full Cloth Gundam, now that's toy like. 😕 Kind Regards, Dazz
  15. Looking very good there Brundledonk. The paintwork is very impressive. The effort and work gone into is definitely worth it. I agree with Thud and personally vote Emmas machine as she was a great pilot. I don't think there is any differences between the pilots machines however? Kind Regards, Dazz
  16. Voted for two kits that I do not already own. Kind Regards, Dazz
  17. Evening everyone, Hope everyone has had a good weekend? Well I have gotten to the stage where I am happy with the Horsa. I will not bother with an RFI as there are too many errors with the kit. I will do another one at a later date with all the information I have generiously been given in this thread. Pictures below. That last one is my fav, I love that decal - as LostCosmonuts has said, it really does bring it to live. @LostCosmonauts Wow I love your Dakota and Horsa! Very cool there. I do have a Dakota to build at some time. However I have a few to get finished yet. As can be seen, I didn't put any of the pokey out bits as I know they will get broken off. Which is cool, makes my job a little easier. Well 2 hours after taking these photos, my girlfriend moved the model from the kitchen table and dropped it. She smashed the nose clean off... it's repairable, but she knows she is in the dog house. Stilll not 100% sure on those roundels... Thank you one and all for putting up with this for so long. Hope you all like it! Kind Regards, Dazz
  18. Looking good there Shelliecool! Good luck with that seam. I'm looking forward to more. I have this kit in my ministash and will be building it soon, but will be an armed Red Arrow. I used to have a poster on my wall a kid with an Red Arrow carrying dual Sidewinders and the 30mm Aden cannon. Kind Regards, Dazz
  19. I'm game, count me in. 1983 was the year I was born however my mental age is more closer to 2003! Just got to find something now. Kind Regards, Dazz
  20. Afternoon Chaps, Just seen this and I like the initial idea put forward by Jedlam. The initial idea does remind me of the Starter Set GB we did a number of years ago (2 or 3?), I personally built the new (at the time) Tiger Moth from only what was in the kit/set (it is sitting infront of me now). I don't know about other people, but I had so much fun in that GB because it was taking me back to my childhood when I built a model in an afternoon. This proposal from Jedlam sounds like an extension of that. Why don't we pick a starter set or just starter sets in general (there is a few) and see what people can do when they have the extra tools - but rule out AF stuff bar decals? Just a suggestion to keep the price down and the potential numbers of entrants higher. I would also put forward my interest if the kit was right (I like the idea of the Stuka). Kind Regards, Dazz
  21. Great film! Not sure about the re-make however. Shame they wheren't Hind-A's used in the film but actually Puma's probably the same one used in Rambo to be fair. loving the work thus far Ced! Those guys look very laid back in their seats huh? Kind Regards, Dazz
  22. Evening All, Done a bit more work on Kamidake (See below). I'm having a bit of problems with the Techmod decals not conforming to the dips and bumps. Even though I have caked the decals in MicroSet/Sol... Has anyone else had any problems with those decals? I have painted the bottom JN Grey on Azaka and am just waiting for that to set before I do anything else to that one. That's it for this update. Kind Regards, Dazz
  23. Would be fun to be part of the GB. Although it isn't my first "Gundam" themed item to enter a GB. I am struggling to find anything else from Gundam that has a shark mouth on it. I found a Gundam that *WAS* a shark (don't ask) but that is it. I'm sure there is more, but my mind is drawing a blank here. However I did think of this one... but no teeth so can not enter it. Shame, some people are just as afraid of clowns as they are sharks. Especially with it has 4 great big Gatlings on it's arms. Kind Regards, Dazz
  24. Oo I like the sounds of this, I have loads of stuff that have a "mouth" on it. If I can find one for a decent price, I'll enter with the RB-79K from Gundam 08th MS Team... a deathtrap in space - see below. Failing that I did always like the look of the Jordan Viper mouths... hhmm... Kind Regards, Dazz
