Looking for some wheel measurements-Monogram 1/24 Camaro
chrisrope replied to chrisrope's topic in Vehicle Discussion
I think it’s quite good as a caricature of a Camaro. For £8 I’m not too fussed and looks like a fun OOB build I'd like to take you up on a set of tyres. I’ve got the parts for the inside of the wheel but not the fronts. I might be able to work some spare 1/25 ones in if I can’t find anything else Cheers Chris -
Hi all I’m hoping someone has this kit and can help me out. It’s very old, has no instructions, decals and crucially no wheel fronts or tyres Anybody able to help with the measurements of the tyres and wheel fronts so I can search for some suitable replacements. Thank you for any help or advice Chris

I’ve absolutely took one for the team and brought this …..… I’ve always liked this style of old Airfix boxes What happens to it is undecided. But I’d like to brush up on my rescribing skills and this will be a perfect victim. It was only a fiver 😉

More things with wings Picked up for a tenner initially to do a wing swap with a Hasegawa Sabre. But it’s too nice a kit to chop up and I’d probably end up ruining 2 kits. Will now be built as is and maybe done as an RAF What if with some leftover decals 262 came with a mask and etch, Hurricane I understand is not the best but was very cheap. Also some essential viewing dvds to have on in the background Lastly, something out of my normal sphere of interest and something I’ll need to practice the camouflage pattern for. But a really cool looking thing More things with wings Picked up for a tenner initially to do a wing swap with a Hasegawa Sabre. What CAR/BIKE kits or other bits have you recently bought, Mk.5?
chrisrope replied to szeregowy's topic in Vehicle Discussion
The backstory to this was a seller dumping a load of their ex’s stuff on Vinted to get rid of it. Result was this was listed at just a fiver A kit I’ve built before so know its foibles especially for an AMT kit. The body seems straight too as the last one I did had a twist to the shell so it three wheeled a bit 😂- 662 replies

Hi I’ve just started cutting and test fitting the resin parts for this SBS conversion set. The instructions tell you how to make up the parts but not what to remove from the kits parts. Those who have built up this conversion, do I need to remove the arrowed part or leave it for support? Seems like it should stay but I’ll have to thin out the resin nose to fit flush with the rest of the fuselage Its the Merlin conversion set btw Cheers Chris

Latest one, bit of an impulse buy but I’ve been wanting one for ages after attempting and not doing very well with the old Tamiya kit. £80, a bit less than retail allowed me to afford a much needed canopy mask set.

Latest purchases of wingy things which are still outnumbered by the car kits these days 146 is a tidy little kit. The Spitfire needs to be had as my stash had no Spitfires in it and every stash must have a Spitfire The Lightning was basically free as I sold a lot of my built models on eBay and Vinted so I spent the earnings on new stuff These earnings also paid for the B-17 which came with a plethora of extras. Guns, wheels, superchargers. I will need to see if the engines for the Monogram kit will actually fit. Not pictured is a load of Eduard PE sets for the cockpit, nose and waist areas and a vinyl mask set, I may replace this with an Eduard set when I build it

Had a bit of an influx of new kits this week Unfortunately the 911 Carrera arrived with a damaged shell (story of my life recently) I’ve had a refund and emailed Revell to hopefully get a replacement. Will be my second go at this nice kit after I lost the door mirrors on my first go and moved it on The RSR came with it in a bundle and was all ok. The Daytona is the Italeri kit and will be good to compare to my Miami Vice fake Daytona Spyder. Next A second E Type which I bought alongside the Mustang. Land Rover was £9 so couldn’t turn it down. I’m selling/swapping the surplus Jag on here. This was bought a while back Completes a Miami Vice trio. However I bought one that turned out to have the engine parts missing. Another refund later, I bought a second started kit with the engine parts built so I could strip them back and make one full kit from the two- 662 replies

First of all new batch of bargains arrived today It was a gift set so came with glue to add to the other 500 I seem to have but never use, the daft double ended brush and the four little paints which I actually like using for small parts. Nice kit and paints for a tenner Maybe let down by the bright red body especially when all the other parts are in a nice grey or silver Ill wait till the other 5 arrive and reveal them all together- 662 replies

Was it free. Of course was, it’s a Jaaaaag ;)

So the Jag got a coat of purple, a Vauxhall shade that I had a bit left in a can Wheels done by hand, more on these shortly Interior done body colour too and a couple of bits picked out in different colours. Fast forward to now It’s all together. And basically I don’t want to try and add any more too it. Maybe it was me or elements of this kit which lets it down. The one piece plastic wheels are terrible, difficult to paint without them looking shaky and a bit undersized The side glass doesn’t quite fit properly and the headlight lenses on mine were cloudy. A bit of clear yellow didn’t really hide this. I clicked the rear lights in to test fit and I couldn’t get them back out All in all, an interesting subject which looks cool but falls short in a few areas. Glad I got it built as the scale was putting me off though I’ll never build another. Im hoping to add another entry to the Group Build, I’ve got a couple that hit the price point and I’d like to make up for the disappointing results with this one Cheers Chris -

Im the same, I build 1/24 cars and 1/48 aircraft due to the size of the bits. This is not actually a bad sized kit, yes it’s smaller but the construction is a lot simpler Cheers, I’m glad someone got the reference It’s a nice little kit, it would be an awesome 1/24 kit with a bit more detail and proper wheels and tyres Onwards with a bit of progress. After the cleaning and drying, I wet sanded the shell down to 3000 grit and got the first primer coat on. From Airfix grey to primer grey, what a transformation -
Hey all I’ve not participated in a group build for a very long time so bear with me. I’ve decided to join in with this one as the chosen kit is technically free and not my usual choice of scale. The scale would either push it down the build pile or I’d end up selling it so why not give it a go and join in the fun. I got this kit in a bundle with a Tamiya 1/24 Jag XJ220 for £30 from Vinted. Now the 220 came damaged so I negotiated a partial refund of £15 and that kit has found a new home in a swap deal. I wasn’t really after the Airfix kit so looked at it as a freebie so I’m under the price threshold Or I’m happy to say it cost me £7.50. Now I’ve checked it over, it’s actually a nice and simple little kit, hopefully shouldn’t take too much to get it done. After some paint issues on my last car kit, I’ve also done another first and washed and degreased the parts. All done while I did the same on another kit I’ve just pulled from the stash, an Italeri Ferrari 288 GTO Next job, primer and pick a colour for the Jag, I’m not doing the box race scheme. I’ve got a nice dark green I’d like to try or some purple to use up which should be enough for this smaller shell. This is the kit I had my paint woes with Lovely kit to build and the paint and clear was glassy smooth. But after a day or so it flared up on the engine cover so I’m hoping it’s just a reaction to me not cleaning the sprues first Cheers Chris

Hi I’ve not done a group build for a very long time. Am I ok to join late, got something suitable and if maybe not for this GB, would get pushed further down the build pile Cheers Chris
