  1. Probably the best Typhoon build that I have seen, the attention to detail and execution is top notch. Well done Stephen, very very good indeed. 👏
  2. Foolhardy perhaps! I did one of the early test builds, went ok: I need a 1a to complement my Typhoon stable, no other choice really! I only build in 1/32, done three MDC Typhoons but the Airscale one is the ultimate!
  3. I’m enjoying your build and thoughts Stephen, you’re making a great job of the conversion to a 1a. I intend doing the same thing in 1/32 scale with the Airscale kit when it is soon released and will be leaning very heavily on this thread! Max
  4. Thank you all for your valued comments. It’s worth I think adding a couple of other illustrations of the detail provided by Airscale’s Typhoon kit:
  5. A “mixed media” kit, mostly 3D printed to a very high standard; wings, fuselage, clear parts and tail planes all injection moulded. This is one of four test shots produced in late December. The production models should be available in late February or early March I understand:
  6. Beautiful work Rob, the level of detail that you're producing is mind-boggling. Love it.
  7. Thank you. The rigging is Prym elastic coloured silver which is run through 0.3mm brass tube 5mm long, this of course inserted into drilled holes and secured with CA.
  8. Didn’t get round to posting the other AlleyCat Fury: Max
  9. I hope you’re going to record your Typhoon adventure here AP? Should make interesting viewing. And just to prove that the Revell kit can be useful in places, my recent Tiffy build:
  10. Short answer…..No! Only three 1/32 kits of Typhoons are/will be available: the old Revell, the not quite so old MDC resin bubble top, and the Airscale 3D+IM one due for release shortly. The latter is a car door so not a contender for a four-blader, the MDC is a slider so your best option, and the Revell? I know theirs is a car door, did they ever release a slider? You will know from the evidence of your own eyes that the Revell is “of its age” and pretty basic, compare what you have with the cockpit of the Airscale kit that I’m currently building:
  11. The ICM Gladiator is a very easy kit to build, especially the interplane struts since they have large positive location points in the wings. Good luck!
  12. Brilliant, thank you both! Such a simple and ultimately obvious answer! Max
  13. There's an excellent picture in the Wingleader Hawker Typhoon book (vol 2) of a 486 Squadron Tiffy peeling away. On the underside the text refers to a "bump" being the "SBA". Can anybody (Chris Thomas....are you there?) throw any light on the function of this item? I presume it's not Standard Beam Approach equipment? Max
  14. Top quality work throughout this fascinating build, however your sprayed roundels and stencils are the next level.
  15. No Troy, I didn’t save the thread. I have no axe to grind so I’ll leave it here.
