  1. Never built the 1/32 Special Hobby Tempest series then?! . Anyway really looking forward to getting this kit. I've got a Fischer Sea Fury on display in my living room - open engine, folded wings, loaded with rockets & tanks so it's a bugger to dust & in need of replacement!
  2. Looking good. currently on the home stretch with my "Jugglie" here!
  3. No appetite for modelling or anything else at the moment. We lost Merlin our Westie & our "best boy" on Friday. I know others will have experienced this same kind of thing but it's just impossible for me to settle to anything I normally enjoy - no modelling, bass guitar, TV or appetite. Hoping things improve soon....but for now 💔💔
  4. I've always found the box art for the Trumpeter Sea Hornet a bit "troubling! The folding wigs don't appear to be in line, the port u/c leg appears to be beneath the fuselage & although the starboard leg is clearly "chocked" on the deck, the tailwheel appears to be floating in mid-air!
  5. Great to see the CA Venom series getting an outing! Nice kits & should be nicer with the new parts. The Miccormir (sp?) kit is frankly a bit of a nightmare to build but doesn't look to bad if you stick with it!
  6. I've built a couple. TBH they are hardly any better than the ancient Hasegawa series & in some crucial areas such as the cockpit, seats & undercarriage are frankly WORSE! Trying to flog an F-4J as we speak but no takers! Just my humble opinion!
  7. I bought a few to use for detail painting by brush & was very impressed. However I have never sprayed acrylics before & wasn't looking forward to it!
  8. Possible life saver there! And why didn’t I think of Colourcoats? I’ve used them before!
  9. Cheers for the responses!
  10. Going to sound like a total "noobie" here but I'm not! For many years I've used enamels for brushing & spraying & I'm ok with them & wasn't looking to change. However an apparent shortage of Medium Sea Grey enamels - both from Xtracolour (my usual "go-to") & Humbrol (who have it appears discontinued their equivelant No. 165) means I'm now looking to try Humbrol "2nd Generation" acrylics for this colour but I have questions before I lay down a large area of paint on the undersides of my Special Hobby 1/32 Tempest VI! 1). Thin for spraying with Humbrol Acrylic thinners? Seems logical. 2). Clean the airbrush with the same? Can water be used? 3). I've just experimented with spraying their 78 RAF interior green on the u/c bays & doors & when it lays down, it's almost as if the paint is "sweating" moisture on the surface. Is this normal? Seems to be drying ok though. 4). Is it good for masking with Tamiya tape when dry? Or am I likely to find it "lifting"? 5). Finally, the paint gives a matt finish - will I have an issues applying an enamel gloss varnish? I have used these paints for brush painting small details & find them pretty good, however tips or guidance for spraying are very welcome! Cheers
  11. Very interesting!!👍
  12. Magic, Thanks
  13. Got a couple of 1/32 SH Tempests in the stash (a VI & a II) but also have a II on display in which I added the rather nice gun bay that the HiTech kit includes. I simply left the doors loose but were they hinged in the same way as the Typhoon's were? I'd like to attach them if soo or they'll get lost! Can't find any suitable pics anywhere!
  14. Just trying out the Hobby Photo image hosting site; a bit convoluted but at least it seems to work. Finished this a couple of weeks ago. I wanted the unusual LSG/DE/MSG scheme so I used an Xtradecal sheet. For an FR the fuselage inserts for the camera windows are on the clear sprue but not mentioned in the instructions - presumably they are there for anyone modelling an FRXIV which of course uses the same sprues for a lot of the kit.
