OzH Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Pulled this nice little number out of the stash for a quick build. It’s the Aviation Workshop AIRFRAME 1/48 Vickers 4x4 Aircraft Carrier Deck Tractor Mk II This is the tug that has been seen on the modern carriers for the past 25 years of so, I've seen them in yellow (my second one will be yellow...) since the Falkland’s, they seem to be almost exclusively green, normally knocking around harriers and Sea Kings. I picked two of these up from the Aviation Workshop website, looked about 10 minutes later and they were sold out. They seem to be going like hot cakes! Anyway, the box top and box contents Really nice casting, the only slight negative that I found was a slight short pore of the front right wheel arch. I dug the second example that I have out, and the if was the same for both. Compare the red and blue circles, you'll see the red is the area a fault. A bit of scrap plastic and a quick rub down and it was all sorted, no real drama's.... Took about an hour to clean up all the parts ready for paint That was last weekend A couple of nights during the week and then this weekend…. Paint, decal and finished.... figure painting's not my strong point.... Now all I need is to build an appropriate aircraft for it to tow…! 1
coneheadff Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Nice, realy nice! Now...how about a Harrier Gr.3...on the way to the Falklands...build?
Shaun Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 That looks nice, great build. I suppose its quite small as a 1/48th model? Shaun.
Rob C Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 You've done a good job of that as said above it must have been pretty small!
Tripehound Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I suppose its quite small as a 1/48th model? You should see the sucker in 1/72nd! Thanks for posting OzH - couldn't for the life of me work out what was going on with the hose at the back till now.
jimbuna Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Lovely...would be great to see a Harrier on the front end.

Rob P Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 But they still don't do one in 1/72 They did, but then they went "bust" Wanted the Leyland Hippo, but missed the boat. Wanted the Tugmaster.... And the oh so near Schoppf never arrived.
