canberraman
As many of you will be aware RAF Lakenheath was awash with spotters and photographers during April to witness the first overseas operational deployment of the USAF's F-35A. Eight Lightnings IIs from the 388th FW/34th FS 'Rams' based at Hill AFB Utah were present for around 4 weeks to trial operating this 5th generation stealth aircraft in the European theatre. During the deployment, aircraft from the squadron made goodwill visits to Bulgaria and Estonia as part of the US European Reassurance Initiative. They also flew ACM against RAF Typhoons and Norwegian F-16s during their spell at Lakenheath. These shots were all taken on base on April 28th, and as well as documenting the F-35s, also provided the opportunity to photo a number of the resident F-15C/Es and the visiting Norwegian F-16s. A big thank you to the personnel of the 48th FW and 388th FW/PA for making the visit possible. Thanks for looking, c&c always welcome. Nachtwulf
Excellent photography! Still like the looks of the F-15. Interesting to see paint chipping on the wings.
