Look at the T'bolt in the rear, is that a sun cover bring removed, or masking?

Given the presence of the B-29, one could expect a good amount of USAAF bombs around for use.

Also the codes on RS*G appear darker (bluer?) than RS*B, which also appear quite new.

Hi Steven ,

Date of photo is before 23rd may 1945 , as the A/C -KJ1i40 of 30 SQ was DBR in a gale at Chakulia ,

Still trying to make out serial on RS*G.

Cheers

Great pic! Interesting that the 30 Sqn badge is just visible on the white stripe across the fin of the nearest aircraft.

Would imagine the codes on RS*G are SEAC Blue

If its any help my model of RS G is coded HD265 and the letters RS G are in the lighter of the 2 blues used in the roundels. Hopefully Hasegawa got it right with the markings, the kit though is by Tamiya.

thanks

It think you're right, I have a spreadsheet somewhere done by Geoff Thomas linking known serials and codes, that may have the answer.

It's such a large aircraft, one can only conclude the average German fighter pilot must have been a terrible shot!

Isn't the Thunderbolt the origin of the old joke about the pilot performing evasive action by running around the cockpit?
