SUNDON Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) Not sure which scheme I will choose yet but I have decided to build a Tamiya Mustang with the addition of some PE from Eduard. Martin Edited July 23, 2012 by SUNDON
Mike Mcellaney Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Just a quick heads up on the kit and decals Noticed you were looking to do Lou IV or Petie 2nd Petie 2nd is ok from the kit Lou IV you would need to change the tail (this was a early 5 no tail fillet) and replace the decals as the kit ones are inaccurate, there is a name missing from the right hand side of the engine cowling Nooky Booky IV was a K not a D you would need to replace the spinner and props to the Aero Product one E2S is OK from the kit Hope this helps
SUNDON Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Looks like it will be Petie 2nd then. On with what I've managed to do sofar. The cockpit with the added Eduard PE Hopefully the fuselage halves will be closed up by the end of the day and then onto the wings. Martin
wellzy Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Wecome to the Mustang G/B MK II lol look forward ot your build wellzy
SUNDON Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Made some more progress . A quick clean and then on with some paint. Going to try and use buffable Model Master Metalizers for this . Martin
SUNDON Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Made a start with the Metalizers , Aluminum Plate applied over a Black gloss undercoat. Going to apply some different colourd Metalizers to break it up a little. Not sure about which clear coat to use yet as I've heard that some react with the buffable Model Master Metalizers and dull the finish. Martin
Bertie McBoatface Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 That's a nice shine. Are you aiming for the warbird look?
SUNDON Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 That's a nice shine. Are you aiming for the warbird look? Not really I've put a clear coat on which has toned it down a little. The Blue nose has also gone on. I have to apply another clear coat over the blue before I start with the decals. Martin
SUNDON Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Decals on. Getting close now the next stage the weathering. Martin
SUNDON Posted July 21, 2012 Author Posted July 21, 2012 Getting close to the finish. I think these will be the last pictures before I finish. Thanks for looking. Martin
AndyC Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Every collection should have a blue-nosed bird - great work (mine's a P-51C!)
Smiffy Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Lovely. Good to see someone doing a blue noser, especially this well.
SUNDON Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 I'm calling this finished. More pictures in the gallery. Martin.
Bertie McBoatface Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 That's a cracker! Very tidy build and a flawless paint job as far as I can see.
