Model Paint matching Tool

Okay, I'm colour-blind and it's damn annoying. I've just been out and spent quite a bit of money on a number of paints. Only one of them actually matched the colour I was looking for ! (It's difficult to go wrong with black)

It's even worse having to ask the rest of the family to help match paints and then end up with three differnt opinions and a heated debate.

So, off to the Internet for help and I stumbled across this web-site :

Just plug in the Hex number or RGB code and now you have a choice. It's not perfect, but I'm thinking it could save me some guesswork (and money !)

Now does anyone want to buy some spare Vallejo Reds and Greens that I have no use for ?

I've been using the eyedropper tool in Photoshop to pick the colour I need off the photo I'm looking at. By doing this, I can then get the RGB Code or Hex number for the colour I'm looking for. Cut and paste this into the tool and it points me in the right direction.

Apologies if I got anyone's hopes raised - although I'm disappointed it doesn't support Internet Explorer, there is a way around it.

cheers

Good news for those that don't have photoshop - there's a free programme available on the internet called Instant Eye Dropper. If you drag the cross-hairs onto the colour you're looking at, a sample colour of the pixel under the cross-hairs appears, as well as the hex code you need. Just drop this hex code into the model paint matching tool and take your choice of paint options.

The programme can be downloaded at http://instant-eyedropper.com

User instructions are on the web-page.

Hope this helps

Thanks All.

Only trouble is I can't stop playing with the damn thing now.

The average Hex code on my avatar is 993F48.

Nearest equivalent is Vallejo #41 Red Sunset Red (acryllic)

- Bloody Marvellous !

Thanks, nice to see a link from here to the paint database :)

I'm getting a Malware warning from both Safari and Firefox.

Yesterday (august 25) I discovered the same malware warning. My website was hacked for the first time, probably by a bot because a line of html (an iframe to a russian attack website) was injected at the wrong position. This happened at august 21.

I fixed it and changed the passwords, google and the browsers now accept the website as safe.
