  1. Building Trumpeters 1:16th JagdTiger AFV Modeller Publications I’m usually pretty sceptical about books that tell you how to build a particular model as it’s an individual hobby and the modeller should build their models as they wish or see fit. That said, having read through this book, Sam Dwyer hasn’t written it like that. He goes through the build from start to finish telling the reader how he’s built it step by step over 129 pages. The more interesting, and to me, useful sections, are where he’s showing how to make the kit more accurate, what materials he’s used and where he’s had some parts 3D printed or obtained resin parts. Sam has certainly put in a lot work in building this huge kit and the results are splendid. It shows that he has put in a lot of research and/or really knows his JagdTigers. After the build there is a thirty one page reference section with photograph of a preserved machine. Ok, while they say it’s preserved, it’s still rather dilapidated and while they would be good at having a go at extreme weathering it would have been nice to see photos of a machine that had had some restoration, like the one in the Tank Museum at Bovington, although the colour of the engine bay may be a bit dubious. IF you use the references in the book along with your own, the positions of equipment and their colours can be confirmed. The last two pages show the updates, correction sets and accessories you can buy for this kit, from AFV Modeller themselves, and very nice they are too, also new to this modeller. Conclusion Once I’d got over my scepticism, and read through this book, the more I got into it. Sam Dwyer certainly has modelling skills and he does a lovely job in building this awesome kit, and he writes in a straight forward, non-patronising way, which I find quite refreshing. If you have this kit and want to get the best out of it, you need this book. It will also be useful for those modellers who build in smaller scales and would like to add or modify the interior, or would just like to get the exterior right. Review sample courtesy of
  2. It is built out of the box without any modification. It's an older kit but it builds up nicely. Painted with Testors and Tamiya paints. Weathered with pastels and Mig products. .
  3. The Trumpeter 1/16th JagdTiger is in stock at Axel's Modelbaushop. Mine shipped yesterday and I am hoping it will be delivered today.
  4. Hi all, I originally built this model around 25 years ago and I found it in a box of bits at my mums house, thought I'd have a go at updating it and creating a small dio for it. This is really my first go at a diorama for years so really just a bit of fun, hopefully I'll be able to improve on the next one, and improve my figure painting!! The kit is a Dragon 1/35 Jagdtiger and the figures are Tamiya. The model was originally painted grey all over, so i've re-painted it in camo - theres some bits missing, in fact just found a few bits of spare track to go on the side. Its probably not that accurate, not sure if an MG would have been tripod mounted on a tank, but looks the part! Anyway, see what you think! Cheers Simon
  5. With the PT-boat build nearing it's end it would appear to be time to pull the JT from the stash and start the build............................................................ 6. Jagdtiger - Panzerjäger Tiger Ausf. B, Serial number 305004. One of the 11 Porsche–suspension variants, it was captured by British troops in April 1945 near Sennelager, Germany where it was being used for trials. The third wheel station on the left side is missing. Zimmerit was applied to approximately 2 meters high on the superstructure and the Balkenkreuz was painted in the mid section. An earlier 18 tooth sprocket ring is found on this vehicle. Seen at the Tank Museum in Bovington as part of their Tiger collection. Pictures thanks to Dave Wardle.
  7. I have the Tamiya 1/48 Jadgtiger. Can someone please point me to a tutorial or video on putting the tracks together before I go on a killing spree.
  8. Trumpeter's upcoming 1/16 German Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger, is now available to preorder!
  9. Right, my first project post on this forum. I've been modelling in some form or another for a good few years but in the last 3-4 years I haven't had the space or time to do much modelling. That hasn't stopped me from picking up various bits and pieces for the stash over that time, waiting for the time I am able to get back into it! I have finally started to find some time to get cracking on a project with one eye on moving house in August and finally having a place to do it! So to get rid of the rust, I've started on a 1/48 jagdtiger. This will be pretty much OOTB build, with the exception of a black dog set for the track hangers and crew. I really like these tamiya quarterscale kits, good details and really nice to build. I want to build it set at the very end of the war, fresh out the factory, still in primer, based off of some pictures out there of Jagdtigers on the factory assembly line. As such it will have no tools on it, just the empty fittings, which will just be the plastics kit parts with the tools removed and drilled out where necessary. As the track hangers are moulded into the spare links, I picked up the black dog resin pack to replace these. I've also replaced the grab handles with copper wire to add some detail in. So far I've got it mostly built into sub assemblies. One side of tool mounts are done and attached, as is the rear other than a few bits of pcard, the other side still needs doing. The link and length are pretty decent on this kit. I've not used them before but they went together a lot easier than I thought they would and look pretty good. I've left them in two halves until after painting. Can't promise regular updates on this project, but I will whenever I get the opportunity.
  10. Hi! Built this OOB for a friend that turns 40 this weekend. Bought a display case for the model ( http://www.model-making.eu/catalog/Display-cases.html ) Best regards Rune Haugen Norway
  11. Hello all. JagdTiger is my favourite tank in the WW2 era and thus I chose it to be my first AFV model The kit is Dragon 7345. It includes both the standard 128mm barrel and the 88mm Pak43 barrel. The 88mm was mounted on about 10 JagdTigers and all of them did not enter service. I searched for images for this variant and I can only find game screenshots from World of tanks... But well I'd just make a game vehicle then I used the standard German grey as the base colour and did some wash and filter. The chipping was made using drybrushing gunmetal. It looks okay but could be better i think. Perhaps I could try some other techniques in my next model. Hope you enjoy.
