Hi guys - new year is well under way, so I've locked off the ability to create new topics, and will freeze the area at the end of this month (If I remember), so if you've got anything nice to say about my anyone's models that you haven't already said, get on with it!

Hi all, Sorry for the longer-than-usual absence over Christmas - I was involved with some more design work for Scale Models Wellington, then many late nights at the end of my work contract, which then got extended meaning more late nights. After that I had to do the Christmas shopping, cook the dinner etc. etc. and I'm only just winding down from all that. Next step is to clean the office so I can start using it for modelling again! In the meantime, here are the things I finished in 2016 - please don't ask about the things I started! I began with a couple of Cosmo Navy ships from Space Battleship Yamato 2199. These are Bandai kits but not as well-engineered as most of their models - the breakdown by colour made them harder to build neatly. (click the pictures for bigger/more) They're quite small as you can see: I then started a load of things (Guntank, Spice Harvester, Judge Anderson) and made great progress until all my spare time got eaten up by organising our Scale Models Expo - so many things needed to be designed and printed, floor plans worked out, communication with sponsors and stallholders etc. I was a bit grumpy about it because I really wanted to finish Judge Anderson for the show but couldn't. In the end I had one spare day and used it to mend and finish off my Airfix Tiger Moth: It's a really nice kit - less than perfect fit, but it's close and to my eyes the shape and detail are very good. I did replace the kit windscreens with new ones made from thin plastic sheet which was fiddly in the extreme! In June I picked up the new version of Lost Patrol from Games Workshop and painted a dozen Genestealers in just over a week - very fast for me! I also painted up the "infestation markers" and based them with jungly stuff including paper plants from Kamizukuri: One thing lead to another, and a collection of Spore Mines and a Mucolid Spore joined the horde: I made them some scenery from junk as a proof of concept and was pretty happy with it: I'm going to claim a completion here which is slightly inaccurate - this was the Bandai Real Grade Gundam 00, which I modified with a new backpack and weathered up. It's basically done but needs a base - I have finally acquired some N scale containers which I think will help with this but haven't done anything with them yet. Here's the suit though: Another break from Tyranids at this point was painting up these Brimstone Horrors from Silver Tower (also Games Workshop) in an evening or two. Simple models but it was really fun to try and do something loud! I then went back to the Tyranids and painted a Broodlord (boss Genestealer) and three Tyranid Warriors to complete the horde as it stands at the moment: They also got some opposition in the form of two of the Space Marine Scouts from the Lost Patrol box. These were speed-painted in a couple of evenings: Around this time, my friend Nathan who runs our local GW store encouraged me to enter the Armies on Parade competition so I had about six weeks to finish off the models and build a base for them. Which was a bit of a rush but I managed to get it done in the end. It was really fun to do some scenic modelling again and I hope to keep this kind of thing going. I was even happier when I won the Wellington store competition and got a funky golden metal medal thing I was hoping the diorama would do well in our club competition too but it wasn't the case - maybe the gaming bases were treated as flaws, or there was some nasty issue I didn't spot? The end of the year was disrupted by a moderate earthquake - not much damage in Wellington thankfully, but it was pretty scary and there are still buildings in town closed pending demolition. I used the time that I couldn't sleep to try my hand at polymer clay sculpting and made a bust of Bemular, the monster from the first episode of Ultraman. I haven't painted him yet so he isn't here, but I did finish the Bandai kit of the Science Patrol Jet VTOL to go with him: That was a very nice little model and I have picked up a couple of others along the same lines. I'm going to sneak a photo of Bemular in here because the sculpting is finished even if the painting isn't! Other things I've done this year that are related to modelling in some way: * Photographed the entries from our Scale Models Expo the IPMS Nationals and our Club Competition. * Wrote a build review of the first Master Box World of Fantasy models: * Took some publicity shots for our Expo press release (which got published!) * Made new posters for the club: (Model credits: ABC Warrior by Richard Alexander, Astromechs by Kevin Trew, and F40 GTE by Paul Edwards) * Acquired some display cases for the office at long last! And lastly I did a few more Photoshop jobs on my model images from the year, which I really enjoy We just now had another aftershock that was vigorous enough that we dived under the table :( Let's hope next year is calmer! Thanks as ever for all your support, this is such a great forum full of wonderful inspiring people! I rate it five dinosaur emoticons out of five. Cheers, Will

I've finished a few more that I have started this year. Although by no means have I have been as prolific as others. I think participating in the Group Builds has helped by giving me a focus and a little lateral thinking has meant I've finished some of the AFVs in my stash. So here are those that got completed this year. Academy Sopwith Camel. From the Made in Britain GB Supermarine Seafire LFIII Again from the Made in Britain GB

Figured it might be easier to post just the links, at least then you go and read up on them if you want. Two F8U-1As, a 1939 Willys gasser and a 2015 Peterbilt wrecker which is now done. I figure it would qualify of this year. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235001828-172-f8u-1-crusader-140444-and-140446-done/ http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235000769-1939-willys-gasser-done/ http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235014127-2015-peterbilt-tri-axle-wrecker-done/

Wonderland Models will be attending Scotland's National Airshow at East Fortune tomorrow, Saturday 23rd July. Book your tickets by 5pm today, 22 July, for a thrilling family day out. Head to East Fortune Airfield for an afternoon of breathtaking aerial displays where the RAF Red Arrows display team, plus a host of aircraft old and new, take to the skies. The Red Arrows will be supported by two other RAF displays including the Typhoon. Also brand new to the line up are the Swiss Air Force PC-7 TEAM in nine Pilatus PC-7 Turbo Trainers, and the Norwegian Air Force Historic Squadron in a MiG 15 UTI and two de Havilland Vampires. The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight brings the iconic Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane. Other aircraft making an appearance are the Black Cats helicopter display team, a Catalina flying boat and three bi-planes; a Fairey Swordfish, a Stolp Starduster and a Bucker Jungmann. Watch out for our distinctive yellow and blue marquee, we hope you can all attend and look forward to seeing you there.

Hi Everyone, This was my first visit to RIAT and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. My wife and I were going to go to a different airshow, but decided we would try RIAT out. As soon as the show finished, I said to my wife that I would like to go again next year especially as the theme is 75th anniversary of the USAF. I hope they bring the big bombers over including the B-2. I couldn't believe how many members went to the airshow this year, I wonder if I saw any of you without realising it. My wife and I were sat to the right of the P-8 Poseidon patrol aircraft all day and had a great view of all of the displays. Anyway I'll let my photos do the talking. Comments are welcome, if anyone would like to know what gear I used I can get the specs off the gear and put them up here tomorrow. Comments are welcome. All the best, Rick

Just a couple of my better pics from Cosford. Not up to the same standard as some of the more regular contributors here, but you've got to have aspirations, right? Apart from the weather towards the end, and the surprising amount of no-shows (Sea Vixen, Puma, Gnat, P-51 etc.) it was another good show. Was nice to see the Scout/Wasp, and it was great seeing the Gazelles doing their thing. If only the BUFF could be trusted to fly a little lower during it's flypast... Anyhow, hope you enjoy! Daryl.

EDIT 11.10.14: Please disregard all that´s written later on about allowing other than Junkers Ju 88 types in this build (no 188:s, 288:s, 388:s or whatever); but good for us, there are plenty of Ju 88 subtypes in various scales to offer us variety, when this build will take place (not if). Regards, V-P So this is what I was trying to post earlier but chickened out... I know that the schedule is already stretched over a year and a half from this date but I just couldn´t resist proposing this any longer. If there´s no interest then it´s no worries either but why don´t I at least ask what the community thinks about it. I´m just wondering if the single type definition is stretched too far if edit: all the various Ju x88 subtypes are also allowed... Who should rule this matter, is that You, Mish? Regards, V-P EDIT: list of interested as of 5.2.2015 1) vppelt68 (host) 2) smuts (co-host) 3) Arniec 4) kwaterous 5) Mottlemaster 6) trickyrich 7) Radleigh 8) Mish 9) Blastvader 10) JOCKNEY 11) Stew Dapple 12) Scopedog3 13) bobster 14) Dazzio 15) Sgt.Squarehead (thank you!) 16) hgbn 17) Ozzy 18) Potato Pete 19) dazdot and that should make it to the calender :-) EDIT: which it did, running from Sat 7th May 2016 to Sun 7th August 2016 (preliminary info). Thanks Mish!
