  1. Excellent work! I love these early war schemes and you have really done the kit justice. Interesting to read his bio, as well. As a matter of interest, I have some JG71 Richtofen cuff links!
  2. Hi I often use the painted Microscale sheets, for canopy frames to avoid masking!
  3. Thanks mate. I'm pleased you like them! They were certainly easy builds compared to the 1/48 Italeri Sea Hurricane that I'm presently throwing together!
  4. Hey Stu, she's a real beauty! I've enjoyed watching your progress and can say that all your time and effort has really been worthwhile!
  5. An absolutely amazing example of model engineering (not mere model-making!) Everything about it looks sublime.
  6. Hi Iain I beg to differ! It looks brilliant to my eye! Looking forward to the next instalment.
  7. Thanks Latinbear. I must confess that the leading edges of both models are decals, but I did mask the landing lights and demarcation between upper and lower colours! Thanks John. I used to have 20/20 vision, but advancing years have resulting in specs that were definitely well-used for these two!
  8. Thanks very much for taking the time to comment, chaps. I thoroughly enjoyed building these two models and might be so bold as to say that the cost of the set might very well have been the best £7.60 I have ever spent!
  9. Hi Here are some pictures of my two 1/200 Douglas DC-3 derivatives from the Hasegawa 1/200 L2D Type Zero Transport & C-47 Skytrain "Pacific Carriers" set. I hope you like them.
  10. Thanks very much, Mike. I'm pleased you like them. I have just placed them both on the wing of my 1/72 BBMF Dakota in my display cabinet!
  11. Thanks Parabat. I guess the windscreen problem was either due to slight fuselage misalignment or maybe, I hadn't trimmed all of the sprue attachment point from the clear part. Thanks Mike.Perhaps they would look better with one of your sensational "airscapes". Its amazing how different people can look without their beard!
  12. Hi I bought the Hasegawa 1/200 L2D Type Zero Transport && C-47 Skytrain "Pacific Carriers" set in the recent HLJ sale for about £7.50 delivered. I has no idea home small the kits would be. as I had never built a 1/200 model before! I built the C-47 first, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I built this little cutie across two evenings this week. Surprisingly, I had problems on the second kit that didn't occur on the first - I snapped off the moulded on radio mast, and I couldn't get the windscreen to fit, resulting in a non-flush screen and a crack in the plastic due to me applying too much pressure. I used Tamiya Japanese Navy Green that I increasingly lightened with IJN Cockpit Green in an attempt to give a well-worn appearance. I then used MicroMesh before the Klear coat, which "repaired" most of the wear and tear! The decals went on without a hitch and I then applied a coat of Winsor & Newton Galeria Matt Varnish by brush. Apart from the windscreen, I am really happy with this model - a quick, fum build to restore my interest. Sorry about the picture quality - tiny model and poor lighting conditions! I added the penny to give an impression of the size of the model. And finally, a picture with her non-identical twin - the C-47 Skytrain:
  13. Coming along very nicely! Looking forward to the next step.
  14. Hi Jessica. I have now bought a jar of Tamiya Navy Green,so expect to see the Japanese version in RFI very soon! As ever, thanks for your enthusiasm Houston. Thanks jer. It sure is tiny which is why I didn't want to overdo the weathering. I might re-visit that aspect when I have built the Japanese version.
  15. Thanks Val. I agree with you and am really looking forward to the D-Day Anniversary Air Show at Duxford in May to see this:- Douglas Dakota III and The Red Devils - Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, RAF Coningsby Douglas C-47A Skytrain - Aces High Douglas C-47A Skytrain - Dakota Heritage Douglas C-47A Skytrain - National Warplane Museum, Geneseo, New York Douglas C-47A Skytrain - TBC
  16. Thanks Parabat, I'm pleased you like the miniature Skytrain! Hi Jessica. It is rather cute, isn't it? I wasn't planning to build the second kit for a while, but I enjoyed this one so much, I might do another speed-build next weekend! Thanks mate. I'm pleased you like it. Thanks for taking the time to comment Latinbear, The decals performed flawlessly and were not too thick, like the Hasegawa decals of old.
  17. Hi This was a speed-build and was completed from Easter Sunday into Easter Monday. A thoroughly enjoyable build. The WIP thread is here. The penny is added for scale!
  18. Thanks Parabat. It was an absolute joy to build and may just have broken the duck!
  19. Thanks for the review Paul. I think it has stood the test of time well. I'm surprised that Revell have re-released this kit so quickly, as I have a couple of copies of the kit in identical packaging from a few years ago because my father was on Dingos in the Household Cavalry in the '50s.
  20. Very nice with an unfamiliar finish. We don't see many Hasegawa B-17 models these days.
