  1. Thanks for the reply Giorgio, I'll have a look for the Procal set and get the other decals if I'm unsuccessful. This thread has got me interested in the F-16XL as well now. Cheers Phil
  2. Hi Giorgio, I've been interested in the X-62 as well and wondered what the decals were like as I've seen them on sale. I'm thinking of using the Hasegawa F-16I boxing.
  3. Maybe improvised fascine carrying was more widespread than previously believed. I found this image of 2 Churchill Crocodiles with small fascines and some sort of frame. http://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryPorn/comments/g8gvsx/churchill_tanks_adapted_to_carry_fascines_bundles/
  4. I don't know if this is of any use but Flypast October 2018 the codes as the initials of the Wing Commander Flying at Duxford, Wg Cdr PRW Wickham, and JW as AOC Eastern Sector, Air Cdre J Worrall, both dated 1955., It's listed as Duxford Station Flight in Cold War Shield but there's no more details than that. Do you think that 1972 could be the wrong date for the photos? Phil
  5. I'll have a go at trying to answer your questions, but I don't claim to be an expert. 1. The boilerplate is not a literal term, but one that is applied to a test article rather than an operational launcher/spacecraft. Boilerplate articles were used for such things as test launches as well as flotation exercises. 2. The Block I were the early configuration CSM and had a smaller diameter docking tunnel than the Block II as well as other modifications. I think a Block I CSM was to be used on Apollo 1 where there was no need to use the tunnel I just found this https://www.nasa.gov/missions/apollo/apollo-1/apollo-block-i-and-block-ii-hardware/
  6. I've got a stalled build of a Sherman ARV due to me messing up the PE frames on the side. From memory I think Armoured Brigade Workshops had 2 ARVs based on M4A4s and the AoS was 98 on REME colours (blue/yellow/red horizontal). I would check Legends stowage suggestion as I think the towing bars (Item 40 Hollybones?) were shown stowed in the wrong position. They are shown mounted at the back and I doubt that there would be enough support there for the weight. I hope that this is of some use Phil
  7. Hi Nemodeller, This has ended up in the WWII section, rather than the Cold War section. Of the top of my head the radio fit would depend on the call sign of the individual tank. Sqn leaders vehicles would have more radios than a Troop Corporals for instance, with HF being used up the chain of command. Blank plates would be fitted over those outlets where no antenna base was fitted. Edited for grammar
  8. Crane Attachment Lorry Mounted I believe
  9. Very pleased to see that it is now available from their website. I'm in for 2 of them
  10. Hi Ed The articles were in Military Modelling from 1971 to 1972. You've put ARV in the title of this post - did you intend to put ARV or AVRE as they are different vehicles with different roles? Hope this is of some use to you.
  11. Thank you for such a detailed response Kingsman. It looks like I've got fairly free range when it comes to the colours. I quite like the idea of SCC2 and Tarmac but I've plenty of time to change my mind. Cheers Phil
  12. Thanks John, much appreciated. I'll have a look through my paint store and try a few combinations.
  13. Thanks Alan and Stuart, I think I'll give the VMS Prep a go first, as I've got a different metal barrel I can use to test it on. If I mess that up I'll go with the enamel paint.
  14. Hi, I'm aiming to do the gun carrier version for the group build later in the year, but I've got a few questions. What are the colour schemes suitable for this? The instructions show dark earth and khaki but I'm sure the official colours are different. If someone can point me towards Humbrol or Vallejo Model Colour even better, as I'm terrible at mixing my own shades. I've got the heavy individual link tracks for this and I'm hoping they are the correct ones. I've never done a vehicle with a metal barrel before as I mainly do aircraft. What is a good primer for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this vehicle is a bit of a mystery to me. Regards Phil
