  1. Excellent choice! I have this kit (in a very early boxing) in The Stash and seriously considered it for this GB.
  2. Orange and white plastic? Pure gaudy Matchbox goodness!
  3. I know that most Mig-21 cockpits are a weird turquoise colour. However, I believe that some early cockpits were grey. When did the change happen?
  4. You're not late. The GB only starts tomorrow! A Sea Fury T20 sounds good, provided it is in the markings of a training unit.
  5. 2015 will be here soon enough. The moving finger writes and, having writ, moves on. To write another bit. We need to maintain interest in this GB throughout the year.
  6. That was the original intention, but even that isn't as cut and dried as you might expect. As has been pointed out, some smaller air forces do not have dedicated conversion training units. Instead conversion training is done on a squadron. Excluding these seemed to be unduly biased towards the larger air forces with greater resources. You are correct in saying that many trainers have a secondary combat capability and that is why we specified "in a training role". Many combat aircraft are used in a training role. That is why we specified aircraft which have training as their primary role. The idea behind the GB is to get something a little bit out of the ordinary, whether it be the type or the colour scheme. There are plenty of opportunities to build combat aircraft or aircraft which were designed with combat as their primary role, which is why these aircraft are excluded from the GB. I agree that there are many interesting training schemes for combat aircraft, but they are still combat aircraft. As for the general aviation sector, I believe we have catered for that. If the aircraft being built is one in which the builder learned to fly himself/herself (as is the case in your L-4) then it is most certainly eligible.
  7. I remember that! It was always shown during the summer holidays, together with Robinson Crusoe and The Flashing Blade! And now I want to build an Alpha Jet...
  8. Incidentally, I will be building an Ethiopian F-86 in the F-86 STGB.
  9. Ah well... you snooze, you lose... How about Italy? 'cos there's no choice whatsoever there...
  10. Can I join in, please? Portugal (G91), Cuba (Mig something...), Colombia (Kfir)
  11. As a small boy, I had a copy of the Observer's Book of Aircraft which I treasured. The page on the Etendard (this was long before the Super Etendard...) had a photo of an Etendard IVP landing on a carrier. I have wanted to build one of these for literally decades, so this will almost certainly be one of my choices. I had intended to build it this year, but my dance card is absolutely full!
  12. Looking in The Stash I see... 4 x 1/72 Mirage F1 Hasegawa and Heller mix (this will be down to three shortly as I'll be building one in the Less Than A Tenner GB, but by the time this GB starts, the MPM kits will no doubt be available) 1 x 1/72 Academy Super Etendard 1 x 1/72 Heller Etendard IVM 1 x 1/72 Heller Potez 63-11 1 x 1/72 Matchbox Mystere IVA 1 x 1/72 Academy F-8P Crusader 1 x 1/48 Hasegawa F4U-7 Corsair 2 x 1/48 Eduard F6F-5 Hellcat 1 x 1/48 Hobby Boss F8F Bearcat Edit: AngstROM mentioned a Hun, reminding me... 3 x 1/72 Italeri F-100D Plus numerous Spitfires and Seafires with decals in The Stash which could represent them in French service. Can I join please? Can I? Huh? But can I though???
  13. course not.... 'cos that never ends well, especially for Craigsville.
  14. As you fit and remove them a few times, the fit will get easier until eventually it will get very sloppy indeed. The wings may not even fit correctly in the end. It might be a good idea to fit some small magnets to the wings and fuselage to keep them in place. This is what I intend to do with the Airfix 1/24 Typhoon. I have these magnets. They are excellent. However, the company makes larger sizes which may will be suitable for your application. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=161172386939
  15. Just remember that this GB is four months long... so we have a month longer than we've previously had for standard GBs.
