  1. Bought mine late tonight and just back from early testing, looks good, its an important Aircraft that will work well with what we have and what's planned. This is no modern electric fly by wire Jet, it needs to be flown carefully and in a different frame of mind than other more modern Jet DCS modules, but I enjoy the challenge for sure. In actual fact I really don't do that much combat in DCS these days, prefer to just learn the Aircraft and fly them as best as possible, do dabble in the odd kill too though I'm mostly a WW1 aviation simmer for combat and still use P3D and FS2020 for general sim flying I enjoy very much. For those on the fence about DCS, its actually a free basic program you add to with paid modules, however you can try for free all modules now I think to give you an idea of what you might want to focus on before purchasing ... from their site and their words ... DCS World 2.7 Free to Play is now available, Try out each and everyone of our products for 14 days per product during a six month period. You can play each module sequentially or any number of them at a time. The choice is yours! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ As always, I find Flight Sim and Scale modelling a sort of shared hobby, the new Mirage F.1 for example, will be looking for a good kit in 1/48 soon, Kinetic I think? and sometimes to I wish kits I build would make it into the Flight Simulator world of DCS ... Buccaneer, Tornado and A-6 Intruder especially! Oh, almost forgot, mandatory video, skins look a bit clean now but we'll get weathered ones soon I'm sure.
  2. Amazed I missed this, have been inside one at an Airshow, awesome Aircraft, very tempted on this, despite its size and cost !
  3. Probably as a Kid and when Airfix's first few 1/24 kits/toys :) had retractable undercarriages ... though Tamiya's 1/32 Zero does this quite well with working suspension too.
  4. I do have a slow cooker I will need to take out of its sort of shelf of doom LOL, not used it in years, but it was a good thing and someone mentioned the idea of freezing parts of its making too, will look into this. As regards savings on our own particular hobby, another good mention in this thread was perhaps cut back on the extra's we buy, we are maybe nearly all guilty of this and did it as a habit ... at least I did, but not any-more, Tamiya kits especially do not need much A/M, especially if canopy closed, but never say never, there will be exceptions on kits we will all individually want to go to town on My ongoing stash thinning will continue too ... its quite bloated. Any more tips are welcome, lets hope we can all ride the storm, because as much as I hate to say it, the worse is still to come this winter when energy prices will be up again. Take care all.
  5. I'll just keep my kit canopy closed, perhaps third party can address this though? Have experience of real Buccs and sitting in one at local RAF Lossiemouth farewell day, Bucc still looks good with canopy open and does not spoil the flow of its, lines (curves) So would love to model one canopy open to display detail ... maybe this will be fixed before release though. I wonder too if original Airfix 1/48 Bucc canopy's are any thinner and if so would fit? Still have one here and when new one arrives will check this. This has not deterred me one bit from buying though, really do love the Buccaneers as an Aircraft. PS: Seen a few new releases with seriously over thick canopy's now ... tut tut Manufacturers LOL
  6. If they were cutting back on the paint, it would probably be the thin end of the wedge with more cut backs to come in other area's. Highly doubt it myself, they did change over to smaller paint jars many years ago though ... at least for the UK. Perhaps they have cut back on new tool 1/32 Aircraft kits, they will never tell us if they have though. We'll see, no sleep lost over this here so far, just over the heatwave !! Out of interest, what is the most popular paint choice for modellers here? For me its always been Tamiya with a smattering of other types too.
  7. Good for you Bull, fair saving there. I think its a pity we have to ask each other money saving tips, was wanting to buy a members Tamiya 1/32 Mossie yesterday, but had to let it slide, these are difficult times indeed. Glad of no political comments so far, thanks Mike.
  8. You obviously dont know my Mother in law
  9. Have been very guilty of this behaviour in the past Duncan
  10. I cant empathise RobL's advise enough on this matter I do keep a very careful eye on my energy bills, some energy companys will load up your DD, and if you are in credit, then that cash will go to their bank accounts making interest for them, not you ... I am not suggesting pre pay card meters, those have extra costs too, but perhaps on more traditional meters its best to submit your own readings and keep a record of them, take a pic too. As regards my own energy usage and since this is an independent advise thread, do highly recommend Octopus energy company, but that could change, its a very dynamic thing ... but please at least monitor your energy usage and stay on top of, it my monthly DD is maybe a bit low just now but I always top it up if need be after my monthly meter reads, D amounts can be adjusted and I like DD's. because you can budget for it on a monthly basis ... Oh and submit your own meter reads at least once a month ... used to do it three monthly, monthly at least is best I think ... oh and i often forget, its a good idea to take pictures of your meter reads for your own records. Take care folks, hard times ahead for sure, but hope this has been of some help and more cost saving tips will follow too
  11. Oh, I meant to mention too, need to rely on ASDA or TESCO for home grocery delivery because of my disability and it really is quite shocking how prices have went through the roof recently this way for both of them No other choice though.
  12. Thanks Mike for warning, please don't let this go political folks, this is not my intention at all. It honestly is in hard times cut back times we live in just now and wondering where to shave a few pennys, ideally for my Scale Modelling new kit fix too, to help the economy that way too, please no debates about the problem itself, it really is tips to help each other in the crisis we are all in together ... much the same way we did on Covid thread. I honestly found as a single person, could live without Sky for TV and could get just the odd TV or Documentary for free wise with my new Freesat box, it records too if i need it too, Freesat and Freeview have come a long way in recent years, whilst Sky got bloated and too expensive for what it is IMHO. That made a big saving to my monthly DD bills. I hope we can help each other out here in cost saving tips in the inevitable hard times ahead, any costs shaved will go to our future kit stash purchases I'm sure Thanks
  13. Its all going up, aint it, perhaps we can share some tips to each other here, really worry about forthcoming Winter in UK where they are quite open and honest that our fuel bills are really going to go through the roof. hit 63 last week, but a fair arthritic disability too, really not looking forward to this winters fuel bills. Nothing we can do about that, but help each other out in this crisis. Was wondering, what cut backs if any have you good people made already? For me, its quite a few, glad to say Scale Modelling is still up there But this winters fuel costs are going to bite, no doubt about it. A couple of things I have cut down on recently and were rather bloated ... my Sky package, totally bloated it was and rarely watched and I thought i was on a minimal package, cancelled it down to minimum broadband and telephone package and bought a FreeSat 4K box that I figure will pay for itself in about 5 months with no Sky subscriptions any-more. I also pay full attention to my electricity usage now, leave nothing on stand by unless its absolutely necessary, my natural gas usage too. Its a worry where we are going with this energy crisis, anything that dips into my various hobby budgets like scale modelling is a concern. Please post your tips on current crisis and how to best apportion this cost of living crisis back to our scale modelling here
  14. Awesome mate, I absolutely live and breath all things Pink Floyd. Seen Pink Floyd once, Nick Masons Saucerful of Secrets that I highly recommend to any Floyd fan ... once and Roger Waters twice, two nights on the trot ... brilliant. I made both Friday and Saturday nights at the Glasgow Hydro 2018 tour, mid summer scorching hot weather, just perfect Only some 4 years ago, but home phone video quality has come a long way in a short time, so please excuse the video and sound quality in this clip, its still magical. What I like about this one, at each show Roger did, local school kids got the chance to perform, they got little time to train and rehearse, but in this clip from a higher vantage point, you can see each kid has a trainer down below, hidden from view of those at ground level that do the moves for them that the kids mimic remarkably well ... very cool, bet they and their parents invited to each show on the tour will cherish those memory's forever.
  15. I saw Pink Floyd at Earls Court London in 94, awesome show
  16. Also the tin foil cake cups make great paint mixing thinning trays Its embarrassing how many I have !
  17. Well ... Mr Kipling makes exceedingly good cakes ... and that's all I have to say on this 😎
  18. Its a bigger box than I expected ! I cant wait 😁
  19. Yesterday when kit arrived was my Birthday, so perfect timing when the postie rang my bell and delivered it to me
  20. My Tamiya 1/48 P-38 J arrived yesterday, have their 1/48 P-38 F/G too and the plan is to build them together, just a couple of kits to finish and I can get stuck in.
  21. A bit of sanding should take the edges off a bit maybe? Already have the KH kit and many extra's for it, so will wait for reviews.
  22. Carrying on from my previous post about Rammstein at Coventry ... I made it, so pleased because it was nearly off, and of course the tour had already been postponed two years in a row because of Covid-19 but managed to work around my reasons, mostly travel and strike related I wont go into here What can I say, this was a bucket list band wish for me that got fulfilled, the weather was perfect, it was all good really, super pleased, really am 👍 My Vid, not the best viewing point, but I was happy. OH it was LOUD, extremely LOUD, did I mention it was LOUD? This is just first song and honestly, no video, even the best quality ones I've can seen can prepare you for the shock and awe assault on your ears that Rammstein do... it was awesome! Apparently it was heard 11 miles away ... https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/whats-on/music-nightlife-news/rammstein-coventry-gig-loud-could-24329205

You'll be fine and in good hands I'm sure, light at the end of a bumpy road tunnel now lad, its a fairly quick recovery process and I'm sure you will be behind the modelling bench afore you know it. Best wishes 👍
