  1. do they have recessed panel detail or raised ?
  2. can anyone help, i have been asked to build a 1/72 scale baltimore as flown by 223 squadron in Egypt 1942. my mates dad worked on them. can anyone recommend which kit to go for, i have seen a couple on ebay, what colours to use, and any markings to use. i have not built a plane for many a year, but want to get it as good as i can for him. thanks.
  3. smashing finish on your model. i have a rs and an rsr to do, how easy did it go together ?
  4. why not do the linder/knocker lightweight ?
  5. just bought a tamiya zackspeed capri and a built hasegawa castrol TWR jaguar. off ebay. must ease off now !
  6. looks like you could get in it and drive away !
  7. good idea you have there. i have used very small threaded rod (3mm) heat it up to red hot, bend it to the required shape, paint it black, then dry brush with grey to pick up the crest of the thread, hey presto, looks like the real thing.
  8. steve. e type was not a genuine lightweight, but there were two genuine ones racing on sunday, 49 FXN, the lumsden/sergeant low drag car and 3 BXV owned now i think by carlos monteverdi. i was not there saturday so i am not sure what was racing. lots of reference work carried out for myself though.
  9. i was there both days, great racing, go anywhere policy, well policed to enable fans to move around, lots to see, weather not at all bad. they are doing a grand job there and deserve to be supported.
  10. normally he runs the replica in most gt races, he has the real thing too, so top marks to the guy. sure looks like a great kit, look forward to watching your 'journey'
  11. very sad, what an amazing, exiting driver, should have heard more of his exploits behind the wheel.
  12. good progress there. just started one myself, it is to be the prototype complete with a home made short tail and alterations to the door radiator vents, plus i have modified the cockpit to remove the 'passenger seat'. it's great kit !
  13. steve. as matthew said, ipa is your answer, i stripped my yellow falcon the other week, took about a week to get all the paint off, including the zero 2 pack. shell now as good as new. no need to chuck it away.
  14. its a nice kit, hope you enjoy your build.
  15. i can still remember my excitement the first time i saw this kit, along with the rally version in arts and crafts model shop in chester. the date would be around 1982 ?. as i spent much of my time watching short circuit hot rods racing, i had to have them both. i built both as hot rods, one with x pack arches, then another as a tubocharged rallycross car, i still have them. only this week i have been stripping paint off a shell and floor that i bought cheap off ebay. i also did a roger clark cossack version for my mates 40th birthday pressy. although it has it's faults, i still like it lots. looking forward to your progress, it may tempt more 'out of the loft'. hope you can see it, its over 30 years old now.
  16. just to add to the heller fan club, last night i bought an unbuilt 1/24th heller lotus 49 on ebay. i have also bought some plasticard, 10 sheets of .75mm white card for £8, inclusive of p+p from hurlbat.co.uk its ideal for scratchbuilding etc. very quick delivery on the card too.
  17. very nice. I'm tempted to get a mini out myself (again).
  18. use solder with different melting temperatures, use the highest first, lowest last, then all of your joints won't fall apart. it looks a great project.
