thepureness replied to Russmeister 101's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Nice Hurricane, I'm currently finishing the Sea Hurricane boxing of this kit. Goes together really well and I like your results -

I did see somewhere on AMK facebook page that they are still assisting with development of this kit before they work on their next project -

I've got this on pre-order with Hannants for £35. I've now noticed that Hannants had the incorrect price but will honour all retail back orders and kit should have been around £50 -

That's quite interesting. So the OV-10D version of the kit has a slightly more weight to the forward fuselage to prevent tail sitting even without weight added. I've been reading some builds of the OV-10A version and some are plagued with tail sitting even after trying to add weight
-
So, is yours a tail sitter?

OV-10A Bronco in "European One" camofl. / ICM / 1:48
thepureness replied to mathy's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
@mathy Stunning looking Bronco there. Legendary work, I've been looking as some reviews online and finding quite a few people having issues with the nose weight to prevent tail sitting and the fact there is hardly anywhere to put any counter weight. Can I ask about yours and what you did? -
@jenko Really nice Bronco there, I'm thinking about building mine but I'm curious about tail sitting issues. The biggest issue being the nose weight required and no where to put any counter weight in. What did you do with yours?

I've got that on back order but I've seen a few retailers have started their own pre orders for around £50-£55 which is £20 quid more than hannants prices. Someone has a price error somewhere

Amazing build Out of curiosity, how are you going to display it now it's built?

I don't envy your job here Mike, its a very difficult situation. Anyone that builds replica military aircraft kits will have know that the items in the past were used for war. We build spitfires, ME-109 we build Tiger tanks and Sherman tanks. All subjects of warfare that were used in the past. I think to a degree we all become a little immune to historical subjects in regards to this. I'm in moral dilemma myself, Zvezda make some great kits and I've been crying out for a Su-25 new tooling for ages.
-
I've been waiting a new tooled Su-25 for ages, but I'm in a moral dilemma in regards to getting the kit and the country of manufacture. I know there might now be foreseeable distribution issues as a result.

There does seem to be a large amount of the rear of the fuselage that could be salvaged, but in the middle of a warzone, very unlikely. Its such a symbolic aircraft. I also have to give thoughts to the people of Ukraine. Please stay strong

I used to build for SAMI for about 3/4 years from 2016/17 to 2020. My only issue was some of my builds never got published and some times I worked extremely hard on the builds. I only stopped building for them because of the pandemic and being a front line key worker. I don't recognise any of the names though, have they changed hands in the last two years?

I've just seen on the news that the An-225 has just been destroyed. Keeping politics and everything out, that is a another sad this to see. The aircraft was a masterpiece of modern aviation Please keep any comments about the aircraft only

I was originally interested but I've lost my interest in the kit purely because they put one decal option in of a special scheme. Revell see to have a habit of packing kits with just one decal option, their Eurofighters a prime example. Some people have zero interest in these scheme and would prefer to build options of aircraft in operational schemes. I'm not interested in which aircraft but I'm not interested in purchasing aftermarket decals. Lost one customer here with this kit

Airfix 1/48 Buccaneer S.2 for 2022!
thepureness replied to The_Lancaster's topic in The Rumourmonger
My only quibble is the price, in an ever changing and competitive market £60+ for a 1/48 Buccaneer I feel is about £15 over priced. Looking at what some brands like ICM, Revell put out in regarding to 1/48 kits that is my 2 cents. I'm very interested and its a subject I want after just finishing their 1/72 offering. -
Well, that wasn't expected as such. But it's nice to see a later spitfire in 1/24. Tempting, very tempting

So, for today I've been cleaning up and preparing the cockpit parts for painting. Since I'm also using the photo etched set I started removing all the required detail for the etched parts to be placed. I've just dry fitted the cockpit to see how it goes together and then I'm going to start painting this evening.
