Airfix New Announcement - DH Mosquito B.XVI / TT.35 / B.35
Fea replied to Rabbit Leader's topic in The Rumourmonger
I wasn’t ’found out’ about anything. I’d only made general comments about this until this Jacob Idiot had a go, about having to shell out £25 to get the ‘new parts’ which rabbit leader for one agreed with. It’s is possible to have autonomous (look it up) opinions that aren’t based on the Propaganda airfix churn out. I pointed out that I thought hornbys strategy of making people who’ve already bought an incorrect kit, spending full kit money again on a sprue only worth a few Quid, is Crummy to say the least. Especially after the Jaguar and Stalwart debacles. Refunds for the Jag and up to 1500 replacement kits for people to claim for the Stalwart. But as one of their shills as you admitted as much to being on one of your Airfix and Chill streams to me, I wouldn’t expect anything less from the likes of you. And like I could give one. I listened to the workbench at least twice about the history of the parts to make sure I understood it. And so you can bite me as well. I certainly won’t be shelling out another 25 notes on another just for one sprue. And I hope Airfix start to get their act together to start ensuring that punters get everything that they’re expecting in kits from now on. As Airfixws so-called QC is doo-doo. -

Well let your other menbers know as well Mike. I was having absolutely no issues with anyone else until this little poo-poo decided he could tear me off a strip. Well he can’t. And no-one else either. Oh, And by the way, the last time I was ‘shirty’ was 2008 according to the last telling off I got from Greg. -

That’s not what I got from the official workbench blog on YT. And It’s Audio, not text. So get your info right and mind it. You don’t like my opinions, then tough, 🤷♀️ and if you’re gonna be a shill, be a shill. I couldn’t give a monkeys about what you think. -

Ayup Dave, if you listen to the Airfix workbench blog on YT about the new mosquitoes Genesis ? it says something about these details having taking five weeks longer to sort and them not therefore being added to the first boxing in 2021, and being kept back for subsequent issue with the next iteration of it, as has happened now. I think they say that these parts got lost in the heady release schedule and were ‘forgotten’ but now we’re all so lucky to have them in this newest ‘Secret Release’ ! Made me smile, that did. But then it’s hard not to be a cynic most of the time. -
The Fly from another angle ! Last one !

Ayup All, And hot off the bench today, Monarchs ‘The Fly’. I really didn’t wanna build this after my Monarch Sinbad build, as that one fought me all the way. Unlike this to be fair. I have a resin version of him as well from a Garage Kit perspective, but he’s come through and so I’m pleased with the result. He’s painted with allsorts, but the Candy for his head and claw are old Skool Alclad over mr. hobby GX Super Titanium as I can’t get that anymore. MSP and Vallejo Acrylics finish the job off. This is REAL Horror in Styrene. I reckon a ‘Glow in the Dark’ version would be Wicked ! Hope you like. http://

Ayup Meatbox, yes, they could but they won’t. These kits are as I said to Rabbit, part of a ‘new kit’ rebox and they’ll take the 25 notes for that first rather than a couple of Quid, or free, to people who already bought, like me, The original MK16. Again, this is a Hornby thing I guess, not Airfix per se, as the group’s suffering rather than Airfix. Whose profits are buoying it up. I think a lot of people would like to see airfix standalone again, but whilst they keep the Hornby group propped up, it ain’t gonna happen. -

Ayup Meatbox8, Can I have this as ‘three out of three’ for Airfixes last releases all being ‘flawed’ please ? Them being the Awful first issue of the Stalwart, the awful Jaguar Fuselage screw up and now this mosquito with the wrong parts ( I dare not mention the whisper or notion of the idea of these being held back on Porpoise from the initial issue, but I digress). I can easily see Airfixes marketing department burning the midnight Oil to find and put a positive spin on this rebox, trying the old ‘Special surprise ‘ ‘Angle’ again. But maybe I’m just being my old Cynical self as usual. And maybe we have some more ‘ Special Surprises’ in store ? -

Ayup Dave, I agree, I don’t think they will tbh. It’s the difference between a coupla quid plus postage and a full kit. Hornby know that it’ll be bought for those ‘corrective’ parts alone. And It’s ironic to me as the B.XVI is the only ‘modern’ Airfix kit of a mosquito I own. All the many others I do are all the Venerable MkVI. Mainly in old DFD sets, and other boxings since it was first released. -
Well he didn’t think they were up to much But then it’s his business isn’t it ?
-
Awful Quality control. Short shot parts, excessive mould release still on plastic. Excessive sinking-not just marks but areas. And damage on parts possibly from taking sprues out of the mould. Little things like that. And not to mention massive ejector pin marks as well. That do ? 🤷♀️ and yes. I saw them all
-
Totally agree MrT. I’m not having a go at you in any way, shape or form. Indeed with anyone.
-
But this is about the kit. And Airfix have scored another own goal by either not knowing the provenance of the moulds in the first place. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ Or just didn’t care and made a batch anyways, knew what backlash they were gonna get. Especially after the Stalwart issue #1. And of course the only bad publicity is no publicity. But come on. It is slightly serious, as I visited my nearest retailer in his lockup yesterday, where a pile of Jaguars were centre stage. And he said he couldn’t in all honestly sell them, even though he could have, when the product in the box wasn’t what was on the box lid so he has money tied up.
-
Well they never did with the Stalwart so I wouldn’t hold your breath. The news of 1500 replacement stalwart kits isn’t well known I think and just released to various shills that they maintain to try and disperse the annoyance felt by customers.
