  1. Hi all Currently working on Tamiya's Su 76m and am considering having a go with workable track links. I have come across some by Quick Tracks, does anyone have experience with this brand? Also is it likely they will fit the Tamiya kit? Finally these tracks come in early and late styles, would anyone know which are the most appropriate? Many thanks Andy
  2. Thanks for all the info guys
  3. Sorry. It seems I've asked this question before (brain like sieve!!!!!!) and therefore know the answer should be Light Stone or possibly Portland Stone. Might have to model a slightly later period too!! Would still like info on the decals please. Andy
  4. Hi, About to start on Tamiya's 1/35 Matilda. After various ideas involving converting it into an BEF or Australian machine, I now fancy a more straight forward build, in a desert scheme. I want to build a non Cauter scheme machine and was wondering what the correct paint is for a single colour scheme. The period I want to depict is North Africa before the German intervention. Also looking for recommendations for aftermarket decals for this type scheme, all I have been able to track down are ones for Cauter scheme machines Many thanks Andy
  5. Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'm back to the drawing board! Think it will it will have to be a desert scene. Although the Malta camo scene is very tempting. Would I be right in thinking that all desert Matilda's were not all painted in the Cauter scheme? Andy
  6. Hi Recently some of my work colleagues gifted me a Tamiya 1/35 Matilda for my birthday. I have decided I would like to make it the centre piece of my first ever diarama. Would like to try and depict a scene from the Arras offensive in France 1940. Maybe something like the Matilda overrunning a 37mm AT position? I was wondering if anyone knew what paint scheme the Matilda's used in this operation would have been in? I have the Hataka WWII British vehicle paint set and would like to use some of the colours from this, if appropriate (I'm a hairy stick user). Also are there any after market decals available to depict a vehicle from this operation? The reference pics I've found so far all show vehicles with names beginning with G. Many thanks Andy
  7. Thanks for the help guys
  8. Hi guys. I'm a long time brush painter, currently using Revell Aqua paint. Fancy doing a silver Mustang next. I wondering if it would be possible get a decent finish with the brush? Any tips for achieving this? Is there a better paint option? Cheers Andy
  9. Thanks guys .Black it is then.
  10. Hi guys. About to start the Tamiya 1/48 Meteor F1 (the later boxing with corrected wings). Tamiya give the cockpit colour as interior green but it is my understanding that it should be night, am I correct? Also the area behind the pilots seat, viable under the canopy, Tamiya has this as dark grey, is this correct? Thanks Andy
  11. Just got my hands on the new Hobby Boss 1/35 Gaz AAA with quad Maxim , via a Jadlam pre-order. Looks like a nice kit, has a bit of etch and paint masks. The only thing I can see is missing is the gun sight (even though it is shown on the box art!). However I'm sure there will be a aftermarket set to sort this soon. Just need to get the bench clear first now. Andy
  12. Hi. Thanks Did all of the above. Nothing seemed to work Andy
  13. Hi all Finally managed to finish a build. It was a really nice kit to build, Decals were a different matter. No matter what I used I could not get them to settle or matt down. Did a bit of weathering with pigments, think I need more practice! Brush painted with Revell Aqua paints. Enjoy photos. Cheers Andy
  14. Hi. Finally got round to making a start on this one. Have completed the first couple of construction stages and done a bit of basic painting. As a brush painter I have to paint sub-assemblies as I go rather than all in one go at the end. Looks a bit patchy at the moment but will look much better after some touch ups and a bit of weathering. Am planning to do a bit of scratching and try a pin wash using oils for the first time. A few photos to show progress. By the way I have recently switched to Hobby Photo Host and I have to say I am very impressed with how easy it is to use More soon Andy
  15. Hi. I am making the above kit for the Armoured Car group build. However was wondering if there are any aftermarket decals out there. All I have been able to find is a Bulgarian set from Star. I would like to make a.German in plain dark yellow. Many thanks Andy
