  1. Now, that's definitely an album cover from the 80s... best, M.
  2. That looks great... lovely little car, very well built and painted. I've found a handy trick for those metal "transfers" is to find a bit of clear decal transfer film around or in between the markings of another kit (for example, between the letter strokes on RAF codes or in the middle of "O"s) and apply the metal shapes to the decal paper (where you can press down as hard as is necessary), and go again if the metal starts to lift with the clear plastic, until they are firmly stuck. Then cut out and apply using the usual waterslide technique. 95% of the time the decal film will vanish completely when you put it on, and if not, use acrylic floor polish (what we used to call Klear) or Mr Gauzy to blend the edges. If you have a sheet of clear decal printing paper, you can do the same with pretty much any shape metal transfer. best, M.
  3. Seeing @Mattilackens excellent "JDM fighters" build RFIs makes me think (and I should probably know this): Is there a Japanese series equivalent to BTCC/DTM racing that produces all of these extreme versions of "production" cars? I could Google it, but I've asked you guys instead... And is there a book/book series (probably rare and only available from SpotModel) that chronicles it in the same way that the "In Camera" series does for European F1 or Sports Car racing? best, M.
  4. What’s the size? When I built my Airfix 1/12 Bentley, I cut some lengths of hefty electric cable to 3.14x the wheel diameter (strictly the diameter plus the diameter of the cable) and put them inside the tyre before putting it on the hub. For wider section tyres, 30A cooker cable might work. I’d go down to a big DIY shop and take a look at cable, coax, rope, irrigation hose — anything that’s sold by the metre off a roll — until you find something the right size. best, M.
  5. I don't know about the Star Wars one's you're referring to, but the Star Trek animated series was effectively Season 4 of the original series. It had the same show runners and writers, and was voiced by (mostly) the original cast. So "good storylines" were a given -- or at least as good as the rest of TOS Star Trek, though they've said that they could actually be more ambitious with the animated stories because they didn't have to worry about sets and effects budgets... I'd rather see Doctor Who regenerated into something different again, like each time it comes back, and I'm certainly not interested in what a bunch of the "fans" who constantly complain about how it's not what it used to be want to make with the "rose-tinted" filter applied in Blender..., sorry. best, M.
  6. Excellently unexceptional! One feels that the Irmscher body kit is writing cheques the Gemini can’t cash… best, M.
  7. Is it a production model (eg Monte Carlo SS) or a specific car (or prototype) (eg Ring Brothers RECOIL Chevelle...) best, M.
  8. I wouldn’t polish a body to achieve a final finish… as the others say, primer allows you to identify and remedy blemishes, and paint presents a more realistic finish. My only exception is when parts like wheel arches are moulded in black. It always seems a bit odd to use primer and semi-gloss black paint to reproduce the finish of a part that’s black plastic in the first place… best, M.
  9. That’s absolutely lovely. Having watched a lot of in-development videos about this car, and being gobsmacked, I had to have one. And I love the fan! All I can say is I’m glad it’s Tamiya not Aoshima, but I do need to figure out how to paint it without messing up Tamiya’s no doubt awesome engineering. Brilliant build… but I can’t paint mine red because the Zonda is already that colour, so I need to find another T.50-appropriate shade. best, N.
  10. So… non functioning concept, model, or paper project? Or something weirder? best, M.
  11. Opalescent silver blue is the best colour for 60s Jaguars… just sayin’ best, M.
  12. Is it the design that’s related to a Facel or is the “somehow” that our target is powered by a Chrysler V8? best, M.
  13. It is a very nice kit, and probably the best shaped E-type kit I’ve seen. One key point…however weird it may look, do put the glass in EXACTLY how they show you in the instructions! best, M.
