  1. And the journey goes on , let's take care of the braking. This time ( unlike what I had to do on the Delage ) I won't have to pull cables and install pulleys because it's an hydraulic system. So I decided to install a master-cylinder on the firewall to its logical slot : just in front of the pedal...but I quickly realised that I needed a bowl for the fluid and also that a l.e.d ( even with a reverse mounting ) wouldn't do the job... I then fumbled in my "magic boxes" to find a piece of translucent soft plastic with the perfect size and shape. I used my X-acto to cut the under side precisely in order to install a brass disc to emulate the base and took care of the master-cylinder And here it is , glued in its planned spot While it's curing , my next task is to cut and glue the footwell plate on passenger's side ( the huge square bolt helps me as a weight in remote or cramped spaces ) I use my mesh to get a perfect drawing for my drillings on the passenger footrest Well , almost perfect😜 Holes , check - Chamfer , check - Folding , check - let's verify the angle Aaahh , it's better this way ( Eagle eyed viewers might have noticed that the footwell plate on the driver side is installed... more to come on this subject, but later ) See you , guys😎
  2. That's a nice combo you've built , Trevor ! Congrats !👍 Mind you , the prefix "The great" should be mandatory whenever we talk about John Surtees. 😜
  3. This front hood make the car look fierce and ominous !👍
  4. good ideas are meant to be copied 😉 ( so you guessed I like Robert Riley's display ) that's a good choice , body and engine with matching aspect👍 it's the one I use , I dread the "cloud"given by the C.A glue ( even the most expensive , i.e Colle21 ) I cast my vote for the combo "fans on the front/no fans on the back"😁
  5. Dear Mike, as a scratch builder myself I feel entitled to give you some advices : "modern" wheels ( as I did on my Lotus Seven build ) aren't that complicated imho. For the rear a section of tube will give you the rim and a smaller tube section can help you create a support on which you can glue the center part, the rest is just smaller tubes and mock bolt heads. For the front ( judging by what I can se on you picture ) you need the spherical top section of an aluminium spray can ( hopefully you can find the ideal diameter in your next Tesco ) to emulate the center part and go on with the tubes to obtain the rims. You can check on my current w.i.p of the Riley that tires can be created with HD foam and for the tread, a heated screwdriver tip could give you the opportunity to engrave the groves ( given they are not too complicated ). For the parallel lines running all around the tires , I use a very small and very thin aluminium disc mounted on my Dremel and I run it very carefully following the drawn lines on the foam. Don't hesitate to m.p me if I haven't been clear enough😉
  6. They should have looked more closely to automotive history as they could discover the ill fated Citroen Ami6 and the similar Ford Anglia...😉 there even was a Mercury with that weird rear window😵‍💫
  7. As a fan of "old ladies" , I must say that my chair is booked and my pretzels ready ! So far you did a really nice job !👍 ps: for you cat you can try and start your vacuum cleaner , mine is scared to death just by the noise!😂
  8. Good evening , guys Quickly done , the mountings that will help to center and fasten the floorpan I sprayed my black satin paint from afar to get a grainy effect... not quite satisfactory but it'll do the job Cut , check and trial for the foot well panel Next will be the passenger side See you tomorrow😎
  9. Lovely , nothing more to add😍 ps : if I'm not mistaken , there was a similar system on the "regular" SL that allowed to flip the steering wheel to ease the ingress.
  10. Our "gendarmes" have access to Alpine's last model , but this one is also very cool ! You did a really fine job
  11. Lovely machinery from a bygone era 👍
  12. Finesse and precision , I like that ! This forum amazes me almost everyday👍
  13. Oh my !! I had cold sweat 😲running down my back just by reading the procedure ! Ok , I finally grasped the way it is designed : what a nightmare that must be to drive this car at normal speeds ( not even talking about thrashing it in hard mountain curves) Anyway , what a car and what a build ! We are kneeling to you in awe and respect 😁 ( cue on the iconic scene of "Wayne's world" )
  14. Thank you , guys for your comments : "ça me fait chaud au coeur" as we froggies use to say ( it warms my heart ) Ok , let's start fresh and simple : these are the tie rods going from the firewall to the front grille ( or the other way around😁) as you've already guessed it's piano wire. Of course the drillings were made WAY ahead ( because when you forget that kind of detail once , you NEVER forget...ever ! ) and btw , the upper cooling hose is installed😉 No it's not coffee remains forgotten in a moldy cupboard for three weeks : just a weathering juice mixing black , yellow and a bit of brown dry pigment that I will be using to obtain some smudge and "spitings" , oil trickle and so on. A bit under On the sides have a nice evening, fellows 😎
  15. what about a plate of haggis ?
