wkennerley Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 (edited) Next build to be started to go along with the other 10 odd in production will be the Academy 1/72 A-37B Dragonfly - Are there any things I should look out for in the construction of this kit? Edited January 6, 2009 by wkennerley
theplasticsurgeon Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 As I remember it, a very straightforward build - without traps. The decals do silver though.
wkennerley Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 Cool thanks, I look forward to building it, just busy looking up some pics for reference
wkennerley Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 A small start to the kit, did up the cockpit and glued the fuselage together, also put together the armaments I am going to have the plane carry, 4 x fuel tanks, 2 by MK82 and 2x long thin rocket launcher. Spent part of this evening watching telly and sanding the armaments etc
Deon Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 (edited) Instrument panel looks neat, good start and good progress. Ive got one in the stash so Ill follow this with interest. Cheers Deon Edited December 30, 2008 by Deon
wkennerley Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Cheers Deon, its a nice little kit so far, I like your what-if art work Wayne
wkennerley Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 A little bit of progress over the past two days, plane together (apart from undercarriage) ready for spraying (have sprayed grey underside since taking pics).
wkennerley Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Got down to spraying today, all three upper camo colours applied. And I broke the tip pff the pitot? tube on the nose, damn - will replace it last thing i reckon

wkennerley Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Right, sprayed a few coats of future, ready for decalling now, first pic shows with canopy, I still get ragged sdges with masking solution, will try tape next time I think. Secound pic without canopy but with undercarriage fitted. Nearly there. Thanks plasticsurgeon for note on refuelling probe.
Skii Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nice rare subject, lovely camo work too - a little gem there! and no tw**t references so far too, fantastic stuff !!
turnerdad Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nice build, looks like a nice kit. Excellent camo.
paul_c Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 very nice, i've been thinking how nice one of those would look next to a loaded Strikemaster......

alex Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 ugly aircraft, but well done! I like especially the antennas. Looks like the decals were printed out of register, the USAF roundel on the wing seems to have a white halo. Alex
wkennerley Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 Yes there is a slight problem with out of register decals - I was gonna try cut of the white sliver once they were placed, but i forgot and they are now coated so they will have to stay as is

The white line between the blue roundel and the camo looks quite harsh to me. But maybe it's less obvious in real life than on the photo. Alex
