Skii Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Well this was fairly quick build a few months back for the ARC Falklands Group Build, Italeri 1/72 with Aeroclub white metal seat and decals very generously supplied by our very own Rory. The Aim-9Ls were trimmed down to the missile body and new fins scratched from thin plastic card, and the mdc cord part painted over the moulded canopy version and part yellow decals cut up finely.
Geoff_B Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Ohh very nice, looks just the part, hope it will be on display come SMW07
John the Yank Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Very nice SHAR. Is the Italeri kit engraved or raised and how is it compared to Hasegawa's SHAR?
Skii Posted March 31, 2007 Author Posted March 31, 2007 Thanks for the comments peeps, John - its the old re-boxed esci kit, so the surface detail is engraved and as good as I've seen on an injection moulded model, the only fault with the kit is the AV-8A seat, the cockpit rear needs some considerable surgery to fit a Mk10 bang seat. Lovely little kit on the whole - highly recommended
AnonymousAA72 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Very nice SHAR. Is the Italeri kit engraved or raised and how is it compared to Hasegawa's SHAR? Engraved, it was also and more recently issued by Italeri. In my opinion its FAR better than the Hasegawa kit, The latter has quite a few inaccuracies - the nose area/radome is too small and the airbrake area is wrong for starters! Not sure how the Esci kit measures up to the new Airfix kit - but judging by the photo's I've seen- I'm quite glad I have a few Esci kits in the stash!! I may though need the Airfix FA2 to rob the parts to convert an Esci/Italeri Shar to an FA2!
Mentalguru Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) Ho did I know this was going to be lovely.... Time for some revisionist history.... Edited January 28, 2010 by Mentalguru
daz greenwood Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 The Airfix Shar's look like Shar's to me, may even whiff one
ChocksAway Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Very nice. Wish I could do one as good as that. Chocksaway
