  1. Apart from the bulged Bay Belly and various weapons & mission loads for an Operation Granby S.2b load out, what else is needed tom make this a GW 1 S.2b? I have a couple complete original 1/48 Airfix Buccs that have the Granby bits. It looks like the short wing tips are on the clear sprue of the new kit. Here is the original Bucc I built in years gone by and really enjoyed building it but have to have another one with Granby artwork. TIA JTY
  2. Sorry, have to disagree with this phrase, 1/72 v 1/48 unless AFV released a 1/72 U-2 that I don't know of. A better comparison would be against the Airfix U-2. The 1-48 AFV U-2 is a definite kit to buy if you want an early U-2. Look at the instructions of AFV version on Scalemates to see what you get if you don't have one. JTY
  3. Can someone post up the instruction sheet so I can drool before they arrive in the US. JTY
  4. Looking at the sprues the parts look a lot like the 1/48 Bucc kit before Airfix went into receivership in the years gone by. Not 100% but a large %. The 1/48 kit was a challenge but not difficult, lots of quality modelers outlined the sequence to get the major challenge (Fuselage) correct. I enjoyed building the brick more than other kits in my collection, it has beauty all it's own and a favorite of mine when I show it. Glad to see the 1/72 kit get some love and hope the aftermarket gets some detail parts for it. I packed my 1/48 build with everything I can find, I have a couple more 1/48 originals in the stash along with Model Alliance Granby decals but the aftermarket parts have gone scarce, I loved the Brick during Granby especially the Nose Art. Sea Witch Debbie being my favorite. I wouldn't mind doing another one, but I have to get the aftermarket parts to equal or better my first build. Great Review, if the 1/72 kits get some aftermarket love, I may have to build it. JTY
  5. For the Dark Gray Mr. Paint MRP 278 & MRP 280, ModelMaster Neutral Gray FS 36270. I tried Gunze Neutral Gray 36270 but it looked too blue, MRP 280 & 278 are the bees knees for the Have Glass Dark Gray. John
  6. Thanks, not really but I have been building for 50 yrs. Plan to close it up or leave it open & split and go from there.
  7. “Evil Eyed Fleagle” Suwon Korea 1953 John
  8. Emil Largo had Palazzi steal a Vulcan but it had only 2 Atomic bombs on her. Both were gravity bombs. John
  9. Thanks Julien, spoiled for choice. Are there any breakdown photos of the parts for any version? John
  10. Just got the 1/72 RoG Vampire F. MK 3 and really discovering how cool the Vampire is. I understand this is a re-boxed Special Hobby kit, to me it looks real nice as many SH kits do. I normally do 1/48 (Eyesight is aging) What do you think about this kit? I would love a 1/48 Vamp, but not getting a Trumpy kit, tired of correcting glaring issues. Any additions for the RoG Vamp. recommended? John
  11. Got mine today, so I guess we know who scarfed up the RoG Gr.4 's! Italeri's Fin is still a nice kit, made better with the old Paragon bits, I did Foxy Killer 20 Years ago. Now the new Desert Babe kit will get the JP 233 that I have stashed. Granby Jaguars, Buccaneers, & Tornados Oh My. Yes part 173 is on the clear sprue, only thing missing are ground attack weapons. John
  12. Thank you, the resin Marston mat (PSP) is Squadron Products “Moments in Time”. The wooden frame is made from strip wood, sized to fit the display and finished with whatever DIY home maintenance products I have laying around. John
  13. Thanks, I have used Alclad II over gray lacquer primer with much success. I Micro Mesh the primer after removing surface flaws. This works great for natural aluminum finishes, high polished or near chrome finishes need a glossy black base. I use Model Master Metallizer Sealer as a final decal overcoat. John
  14. Major conversion surgery to Hasegawa F-86F-30, using CE tail, Red Roos wing, Verlinden Cockpit, scratch built V- wind screen, CE Decals. Just have to finish the drop tanks. Tired of waiting for an early A model Sabre. John
  15. Hasegawa F-86F-30 with the empennage and horizontal tails from the Cutting Edge F-86A conversion set, Red Roos narrow chord slatted wing, Verlinden cockpit set, & scratched V-Windscreen from an acrylic fingernail set, clear plastic, & Evergreen strip. Decals will be from Cutting Edge F-86A sheet, LTC Glenn T. Eagleston's Sabre before he was shot up by "Casey Jones" Nicolai Suyatgin in the Summer of 1951, so the legend goes! John
  16. It is the kit's glazing, I have the Falcon one too but did not use it, I came up with the solution to the problem as I posted above. JTY
  17. Thanks for the props fellas! Harold and anyone else building or contemplating this kit: The canopy glazing is a little too wide and this has been by identified by some builds in the past. This is what I did for the glazing, boil some water in the kettle, just after the water boils pour some in a small container and put each piece in for about 25-30 seconds, pull each piece out and gently squeeze the section that is wide and quench immediately under cold running water. Do this to each piece individually. I stress gentle pressure, there are flow lines in the glazing which may fracture if you squeeze too hard. After a future dip, cure, Eduard mask, paint, I tacked the canopy with Gator Grip and further ran Testors Dull Cote along the entire edging with a small brush a few times to ensure a good bond. I am pleased with really how simple it was to get a good result on what makes the Ju 188 really stand out. Hope this might help some of fellas. JTY
  18. Thanks Greg, I am not an expert as this was my first ever attempt to do this type of camo. I used my new HS Chameleon AB 0.2mm tip & GS Mr. Color paints thinned to nearly water consistency. These schemes are subjective at best with this being a loose Wellenmuster, a tighter Wellenmuster could be obtained by another go around (perpendicular sic) to the existing pattern. Nothing is firm, as I think these got sloppier as the war progressed. Once you get the consistency where the AB sprays a fine line without clogging start Tagging that baby! Don't worry if you make an oops, you can go back and adjust. I did quite a few times until I got what looked OK to my eyes. I have the Orange Box Ju 88G-6 with the multi-color squiggle over the Night Fighter scheme that I want to do too. GOOD LUCK, it is not as hard as it looks. John
  19. 1/48 Dragon Ju 188E, Verlinden Compass/gun Alignment Platform with accessories, Monogram Bomb loader & fuel cart, Eduard Brassin SC 500 Kg bombs, Still have a couple CMK figures to paint & add, John
  20. Cheers gents! Camo is freehand with .2 mm needle in Badger Renegade with GS Paints & Mr Color Leveling Thinner. < 10 psi air pressure. John
  21. Some pigment accents left but finished the Hawg. Another overlooked REV/MON gem on my bucket list completed. Wing King's aircraft 1986 time frame, QuickBoost ACES II seat, Master GAU-8 gun tip, Xtradecal's X48-006, stencils from kit & war weary hog sheet. John
  22. Thanks, here is the link to the WIP. http://www.zone-five.net/showthread.php?t=31273 John
