Hi I am working on a the Revell Tiger Sea King kit and I just painted it and the colour looks too dark. I use Vallejo Model Color 160 Neutral Gray. Also the exhaust gray doesn't look right either I used Gunze 317.

I have access to Vallejo and some Gunze. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Gordon. I don't have access to either of your paint choices but if you look on IPMS Sweden's web site, they have an excellent colour conversion chart.

Thanks for the replies, as I live in Canada I unfortunately don't have a nearby Halfords.

I did check the chart Colin but Murphy's law that is the one Gunze colour I am missing.

I forgot to mention I also have access to Tamiya colours

Thanks

I also searched for pics of actual aircraft and corrected the exhaust colours

Again thanks for all your help

Medium Sea Grey is actually quite light in tone and has a delicate blue hint in it. It also has a really matt lustre to it, almost if it is dragging the light in. Last saw a HAR5 a couple of years ago between the Isle of Cumbrae and Largs in the Firth of Clyde (must have been from HMS Gannet) and the grey is effective as camouflage. When it started to rain (it was the west of Scotland after all) if it ain't for the red it would have disappeared.

Looking much more like the real colour ,the model has a line just above the boat hull which is where Light Aircraft Gray come up to on this scheme at this time. The aircraft is still in this finish XV712 66 814NAS & has now gone to the IWM Duxford. looking forward to seeing it finished. regards Len

Calling this one done. Not completely happy with the clear parts as some crazing when took masks off. Used Fiber optic for the antenna on the left side. Decals took little bit to get them to settle. Thanks for the help here also used some pics of real aircraft to correct some color errors on the instructions. Comments critiques welcome

Not the same airframe, but a Google image search for XV671 (an AEW.2/ASaC.7) will give you a few results which clearly show the demarcation line

give me your e-mail i have many pictures of this aircraft regards Len
