It is ABOUT TIME somebody did a decent 1/72 P-39. The old Airfix and Revell ones have shape issues (and Hobbyboss copied Revell's shape problems). While the Academy kit (based on Heller's decent kit) is better, it still is off in spots.

This one on the otherhand seems to look right in all the spots that count and if you hadn't said it was a new 1/72 kit, I might have thought it was an Eduard or Hasegawa 1/48 kit. Very nice!

So, how was it to build? And if the kit is that new, how the heck did you get it done so fast?

Good job, nice looking scheme,

That canopy! My eyes! My eyes! Ahhhhhhhh! Aiyeeeeee! We have a real one out at Planes of Fame and I watched them restore "Brooklyn Bum" which now lives at Duxford, and that canopy is sooooooo bad, it makes the godawful Special Hobby 1/32 kit look like a P-39. The Hasegawa 1/48 kit (and the ancient Monogram 1/48 kit) are still the only P-39 kits that look like actual P-39s.

it's nice to see the Monogram kit is still well respected by at least a few people.

yes, it's old (1969) but it's overall shape is still pretty good.

what do you think of the Eduard kit ?

in many ways this 1/72 kit looks like a down-scaled version of it.

Hysterics aside, please specify what you think is wrong.

To me it appears that the windshield is too flat, and the shield is a bit too big, also the total height seems a bit too low.

It caught my eye from the start.

It's not really awful, just clearly noticeable.

Looks like a pretty decent Airacobra to me and a beautifully built one to boot, lovely model.

I`ve got the British version of this same kit and I hope mine turns out half as nice,

All the best

The windshield is meant to be flat. Looking at the P-39 at Classic Jets (http://www.flickr.com/photos/adelaide_archivist/5046367472/sizes/o/in/photostream/) and comparing numerous large clear photos against the kit, I think it looks okay. Possibly the roof panel is a little flat but nothing to get febrile about. The Monogram kit is okay, if you can be bothered to remove the raised panel lines.
