Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 Hello everybody … I am finishing builds that were started in 2022 before my health took a turn for the worse. I am presenting three spitfire’s today. The first will be a Mk.Vb in the Markings of USN VCS-7 Spotting aircraft from Operation overlord on June 6th. Sadly I lost the landing gear and had to build this one in flight. I used a spare set of flying gear from the Airfix Mk.Vc that I had left over. My first such build in almost 40 years. Please feel free to post comments or ask questions. Dennis 26 1
georgeusa Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 Well done on your Spitfire build. Now all you need is a stand. Thanks for sharing. 1
FIGHTS ON Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Nice looking build - can't really go wrong with invasion stripes on a model. VCS-7 spits were based here in Lee-on-Solent for the Normandy campaign, so I've no excuse for not doing one to add to my shelves. Thanks for sharing the images 1

The two Vb’s were both 1/72 AZ kits, the Vc was the newer Airfix release. On 1/14/2024 at 9:32 AM, FIGHTS ON said: Nice looking build - can't really go wrong with invasion stripes on a model. Thanks for sharing the images I only wish the gear hadn't broke but the Airfix raised gear bits worked with a bit of fiddling. It would make a good addition to any collection. Im sure the R.N. had their own spotting pool. Maybe I can do one of them to balance the look ? Edited January 17, 2024 by Corsairfoxfouruncle 1
