JJ2016
Tamiya 1:350 USS Enterprise Hi BM mates, here's a project that I would have never ever in my lifetime thought I would be doing... Let me set the scene...... Its around mid-December 2019..... myself and my Son are doing our customary last minute shopping for my Wife and Daughter, as is expected in the natural order of all things Christmas shopping..... We stop off at Games World and as we walk through to the models, there in front of us is the MIGHTY TAMIYA 1/350 USS ENTERPRISE.... I reach up and bring it down to the ground... we both crouch around it in awe of its mighty awesomeness and I tell tales of the legend......... So fast forward a week or so... this ended up under tree (of course).... I started the build end of 2020 after doing other builds and initially the actual carrier took around 3 months to build, then another month for the aircraft, but didn't go any further until I sourced a good cabinet... That took a while.. keeping in mind this was my first shot at PE parts, I had more experience by the time I got the cabinet so I decided to do a repaint (was a little too dark) including redoing the brass parts which didn't go to well the first time. So end result is I finished her after: -after market aircraft decals -after market aircraft kits -2 x PE (Ensign) sheets -the cabinet -the original kit With more skills, this could have been better, but I'll do another big ship in the near future and try to apply my learnings ... If you've read this far, thanks for reading my epic story, here it is... My Tamiya 1/350 USS Enterprise, hope you like it !! Cheers JJ Size comparison with 1/48 Tomcat - big ship !!!! These were damaged, I substituted the SPS-49 radar array for front net but replaced all of these in the rework. The Rework/Repaint All done !! Thanks for looking, hope you liked it. ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday Jeremy, that's a (insert adjective pertaining to blood here) big model of a (insert adjective pertaining to blood here) big ship. 🙂 It looks like it kept you busy for a while. And very well done. Anybody who does PE like that has my admiration. Are you going to do her WW2 forebear? It would make an interesting comparison. Regards, Jeff.

That said, next ship I do will likely be Iwo Jima LHD, it looks pretty cool !!

internationalrescue
Wow, what an amazing build! Really love your attention to detail and excellent PE work! I have the same kit but haven't launched into it yet. I would love to build out the hangar but I know that's a whole kit on it's own. Great work! I saw somewhere in the forum (can't recall), there's a French company that sells the hangar kit !! printed hangar, vehicles and PE. Maybe do a search, its there somewhere. Also if you're going all out, I think Eduard do a heap more PE sets too. Hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did !!! Cheers JJ
