Planebuilder62
Hi there Does anyone know the differences between the FF 49 and FF 33 seaplane variants? The FF 33 model is readily available, not so for the FF 49 in 1/72 scale. regards Toby
pheonix
The main differences were the engines (Benz IV in the FF49 and Benz III in the FF33), balanced control surfaces in the FF49 and in the bomber variant of the FF49 the pilot and observer positions were reversed. The FF49 observer also had an m/g. The bomber version of the FF49 did not have an m/g for the observer. There were many variants of the FF33 so you will need to establish which one is kitted before attempting a conversion, but it would be a relatively simple task to convert the 33 to a 49. P Quoting an old post now, but I hoped to resurface this topic. In addition to changes in the panels and cowling due to the different engine, there were also some visual changes in the aft section of the fuselage: a very notable horizontal shadow running all the way to the observer’s cockpit (but not through the pilot’s). Anyone know the source of this? I assumed an added longeron or stringer of some sort, but ar least all models show nothing of the sort in the cockpit. Any ideas?
Harold55
Marvoix has a 1/48 Swedish version of the FF33E and there is some information online about the aircraft. The engine was a 150hp water cooled Benz. The plastic was Techmod either the on change being the engine and decals but when you compare the instruction there are a couple other changes. There are other national versions of the FF33E such as Polish in Resin so it might be possible to figure out what other countries had a similar version. dov
Hallo FF33 from Techmod 1/48. This is a excellent kit! 72 is not my field at all. Maybe this info helps. Happy modelling
