Slovak Atak...1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4, 13.(slow.)/JG52

#13/2019

And my dad has finished another one.

Tamiya kit with HR Model decals, AK Real Color RLM 74/75/76, EZ Line for the antenna wires, plastic rods and lead wire for the brake lines.

Build thread here

https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235052676-slovak-atak148-messerschmitt-bf109e-4-13slowjg52/

In early 1942 a bunch of Slovakian pilots were sent to Denmark to train for the 109. Then they received a dozen of refurbished and partly repainted Emils (-3, -4, -7) and served as 13. Staffel with JG52 on the Eastern Front until 1943.

Another nice build. Excellent mottling.👍 I must give this kit a go one of these days. Only ten months to pension time for me. Then I will have more time for my stash I have built for it.

Be good to see your dad do a Me 262A-1. In Kommando Nowotny colours. 19 or 4. I plan to do one soon. I want to make a special mask to do the tail pattern.

I know I have a bit of a Swallow fetish at the moment. 🙄

Yes, the Tamiya Emils are excellent kits.

Looking forward to your models then. Regarding modelling, my dad started through after his retirement 😄

Well, the 262 is a sexy bird but my dad won't build another one in the near future. Still have the HB Pulkzerstörer, glass nose bomber and BMW engine kits in the stash and one "normal" one with which he most probably will do one of the fully silver ones.

Doesn't someone produce a mask for the "tadpole" tail pattern? Think I've seen it somewhere...

Thanks for the comment Reini. Right now I have far to many kits started. I plan on getting my Typhoon completed shortly. I have the paint repair work done now after attaching the metal barrels. I'm doing two Me 262s for the Specialist GB. My Ju 188 is on hold for the moment, but will get going again soon.

I found the decals for Kommando Nowotny "19" plane after you put me on to the correct name of the tail pattern that I was after. I have two of the books of the great Me 262 series by Richard Smith and Eddie J Creek. Volume two and three. Volumes one and four are a incredible price of $800.00 up, so I won't be getting them. There is a great section on the Kommando Nowotny group in it. Once again thanks for the help. I'm looking forward to your dad's next offering what ever it might be.

One if the Cutting Edge 262 sheets has decals for the rear camo, is it the one with "19" ?

We have loads of books and booklets too, fetting more every year...

But the prices for out of print second hand books are often insane, yes 😧

My dad's next rollout in about 2-3 weeks will either be another Emil, this time a German one, or a Mexican P-47, they are both about in the same progress.

Cheers

Yes, that is the one. I understand the colour isn't quite right on the tail decal, but at least I could use it as a template if I'm not happy with it.

Best let this thread get back to your subject now.
