Speedman Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 The decals are on. The codes and fuselage band were a strange greeny blue colour so I had to paint over them, not perfect but it'll have to do. I replaced all the roundels with spares. You can see the horrible greeny blue in this one. 1
Murdo Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Very impressive modelling! I'm looking forward to the finished article.
Speedman Posted May 16, 2014 Author Posted May 16, 2014 Thanks I've done most of the detail painting now. 1
Speedman Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Finished! I'll post some better photos tomorrow. 1
depressed lemur Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Is there anything left from the original kit? I refuse to accept this is the same kit as shown in the first photo. Absolutely amazing job.
Speedman Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 Cheers guys It's not been the easiest kit to build but I'm glad I stuck with it. Believe it or not, I have ANOTHER Tempest in my stash! I think I will hold off doing that one for a while, for the sake of my sanity I forgot to mention during the build, that the undercarriage legs are scratch built and the main wheels are from a Me 262. More photos in the gallery. 4
Neal Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Silk purse & sows ear spring to mind, great job from an awful looking kit
PlaStix Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 That is really smart!! You do really make these look bigger than they are. Well impressed!
Nobby57 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 You've just cheered me up as I've lost a re-worked Sea Fury spinner I was just about to paint...and there I was just about to smash the rest of the build up, and in my anger, I've been quieted...Lo I saw a shimmering, maybe hazy view... A one forty fourth TEMPEST my Lord...and accurate too! (Apologies to Neil Young) Beautiful effort for one so heavily into 'production'. Slow down and I'll love you more! But bloomin loverly, that's all I'll say. G
