  1. Another year of lower than normal output for me. (Eight more than last year though! ) In no particular order... LS 1/144 F-20 Tigershark N3986B BMW Anthracite Grey. A "few" Zvezda 1/100, Plastic Soldier Company 15mm and Flames of War 1/100 tanks I've built ready for painting. Quite a lot of build time went into these but it saves a lot of space in the cupboard And my last build of the year... Dapol OO Gauge Stephenson's Rocket. I built it as a Christmas present for my girlfriend's dad who loves trains. A fun little kit to build and not too much to clean up for a kit originally moulded in 1960 by Kitmaster (Later tweaked by Airfix).
  2. More photos in the gallery. 82-0062, N3986B, 82-0062 Egyptian markings, N3986B BMW Anthracite Grey.

  9. Cheers Well... They're finished! I'll post some proper photos in the next few days. Canopies unmasked, exhausts fitted, ordnance fitted and the last bits of detail painting done. Drop tanks fitted. Here they are together with the X-29 I've been building for the group build. X-29 build.
  10. Finished! I'll get some proper photos done in the next few days. Here it is with the 4 F-20s I've also been building for the group build. Quad F-20 build.
  11. Hi, they're not overlapping the rudder, that's a panel line! Unfortunately it's just as deep as the line for the rudder... One of the many joys of 80s 1/144 kits! The lump is a rectangular navigation light so I have it up as far as I can without covering that. Both flags are pretty close to the correct size they need to be (see below) seeing they were donated from other kits. One of the biggest drawbacks of 1/144 modelling is the lack of after market parts and decals. Yes, you can get some bits and pieces for some of the modern kits but for old, long out of production kits like this, you're on your own. Wheels and stuff went on last night.
  12. I made a few touch-ups to the decals where they weren't quite long enough and left gaps at the nose, intake splitter and both upper and lower rear fuselage. After that I gave it a light grey oil pin wash to enhance the panel lines. Wheels and doors on.
  13. And now with decals! The size of the Egyptian markings from my L-29 are just about right. I had to do the tail code for this one using individual decals, took an age to get lined up and spaced.
  14. A few coats of Halfords Appliance White... And some decals. Lots more to do but it's a start.
  15. Revell decided to resurrect "fit-the-box" scaling. I think it's a Sith thing...
  16. There was no decal, the kit used to come pre-painted prior to the new release, I striped and repainted the whole thing and masked the windows before spraying. It wasn't hard to do as the frames are very pronounced and as the new release has exactly the same parts it'll be just as easy to do. I cut the tape roughly to size for each pane and once it was in place I used a cocktail stick to get the tape right into the corners. Then I ran a scalpel along the edges and removed the excess. Hope this helps
  17. OK, a very late start for this one but I do have an excuse... It was an eBay bargain and I only got it in the post on Monday! I know it's 90% built and in primer but it's so well engineered that I had it together in under half an hour! This is truly an amazing kit! Barely any seams to deal with, it helped that the fuselage is split as upper and lower rather than left and right, and absolutely no need for filler. I had so much fun putting it together I really did forget to take some photos, I promise I'll get some as I paint it.
  18. Some more production line progress Canopies on and masked ready for priming. I forgot to get a photo of them in primer so this is the nearest I can get, the undersides are painted but the tops are still in primer. Undersides done. I've not pre-shaded, due to them being in pristine condition in every photo I've ever seen of them. Probably helps when your trying to sell the things. And here's the black (Ok, dark grey) sheep of the family.
  19. Now Christmas is out of the way I can concentrate on getting these finished I'm now going to do the forth Tigershark in Egyptian markings, as suggested by Tom, with decals from my Mark 1 AERO L-29 kit's sheet. So... Where am I with this one...? Doing pretty well over the last couple of days Fuselages together and intake splitter plates on. Fins on and moved 2mm to the rear. Pylons fitted and holes filled. Lots of bits cleaned up and ready for fitting. The ordnance. I sanded off the horrible moulded in lumps that represented the 20mm cannons and replaced them with wire after drilling out the ports. Control columns added. I scratch-built some seats. And fitted them. I have installed a spacer behind them to represent the canopy mechanism.
  20. The AMT TIE fighters are 1/51 and a completely different sprue layout. This is the original pre-painted Revell snap together "easykit pocket" kit, re-released as a "glue & paint" kit with decals. All of the new level 3 releases are the old "easykit pocket" kits. Also, the reason for the different scales of these kits is that they were designed to fit the same size box. While they are nowhere near as accurate or refined as the Fine Moulds or Bandai kits, they are great fun to build and far cheaper. Here's the result of a full repaint (including interior) of Vader's TIE fighter I built early last year, it was fun to build and I highly these kits for a quick and easy project.
  21. After 2 very busy years of modelling, changes in my personal life and job severely reduced my modelling time this year. I'm still plodding along though In build order...
