  1. Hi all, The question has been asked regarding car parking. The carpark is owned by an independent company not tied to the stadium. There will be qr codes available to register your number with to give free parking on the day. We have been told there will also be "tablets" available but this did not happen last year so we will have to wait and see. Please be aware you can register any time during your day so don't panic thinking you have to do it as you pay. Speaking of which, the front door is cash only, please try to bring exact change as it speeds things up. The floor plan is still in finals, but I will see if we can get a copy posted for you to see who is where. Most of all, enjoy the show.

  3. Hi guys, a quick heads up that the Bolton Show is on this month on the 21st. This is our 25th anniversary show a list of traders will be posted shortly
  4. Salvinos Jr. Models Cheverolet Monte Carlo 1980 Race Winner. My own colour scheme. Vallejo paints throughout.
  5. During the mad dash to the finish line the kit decideds to throw one more rock onto the smooth pathway of happiness. Yup, the shell is not exactly true with the cross member annoyingly warped with a corresponding misalignment further down. Somethinh I will fix at a later date but no time for this during a Blitzenbuild. Pressign on is the only option so that is what has been done. Decals applied and I am calling this done. Start time was 13:05 25th December End time 12:45 26th December Superhero option complete with 20 minutes to spare. As a kit it has faults. The plastic is soft. The moulding could be crisper (possibly due to previous point) Parts on the sprues do not match parts on the instructions (either by number or by shape) which is really annoying when you have a time limit. There are no painting guides so unless you have references it is down to guesswork. The decals went on really well, were not too fragile and settled down well (about the best part of the kit) Did I enjoy the build? ish. it was confusing, annoying but eventually doable. If you are into NASCAR and understand how these go together, have references and the pationce of a saint then this would be a good kit for you (provided you have experience) I am going to have a lie down. Lemur out.
  6. I finally had enough with this and decided to smash it to a pulp with a hammer. Instead I took a break for a sausage sandwich. This is not going to beat me so I have pressed on regardless. Some parts do not actually exist on the sprues and I am starting to think this kit has the wrong instructions as nothing could be this bad on purpose. After some home fabrication I am close to adding some decals. Onto the last hurdle.
  7. I would advise keeping your sanity. How anyone could get one of these as a first kit and continue the hobby is beyond me. Latest gem, the air filter. One piece according to the instructions, 2 in real life. You just have to look for it.
  8. Good morning campers, after a refreshing few hours sleep I have dragged myself back to the bench. First up was the exhaust which looks flipping awful with no attempt at providing a hollow. Unfortunately in this scale, and with such a large pipe it cannot be left alone so out with the drills and files. Not perfect but definitely preferable to the solid ends. A bit of paint later and it looks like this. Paint by Lifecolor. Still too early for food but music is the Life album by Audiomachine.
  9. Most of the evening has been spent throwing some paint around in the off-chance that some sticks to the kit. As I couldn't see a colour plan I decided to go with this. Which looks ok ish. I think this is about where I need to be today so should be ok to carry on in the morning.
  10. Christmas Dinner has been had Now a small hiatus before paint is thrown at the kit
  11. Temporary halt in the proceedings while I have the pate starter. Fine dining at its best. I think I am nearly ready for the paint shop and just found my next challenge. There are no colour call outs in the entire kit. The nearest option is the photo on the box. I could try to do research but there is a time limit so that will be silly. Colours will be what I want them to be, and I may not even use the kit decals as I have found some anime ones.
  12. So, part 39 looks nothing like the pic which also needs part 45 gluing somewhere and 46 not gluing somewhere. This is fun
  13. Two hours in and I have managed the following. 1, Built the engine (less the shiny bits) 2 Stuck the rear suspension sub assembly together. 3, Gained a huge respect for anyone who actually builds these. I am hoping to get this into the paint shop this afternoon so need to push on. Lemur out.
  14. The interesting thing I have found so far is that the part numbers don't always match the sprue numbers, there are limited mounting points and vague instructions. Fun in its own way.
  15. Before starting the kit I had to build the IKEA workbench, but official start time is 13:05.
  16. Ding dong merrily on high, merry Christmas to one and Ll and now is time to see what the build is going to be. The parcel is courtesy of MJR Models and Hobbies. And the answer is A 500mm door, unless this is an extra layer. Further examination has found another box inside and we have A new challenge, cars have not been on my bench before. Thank you Mr Jolly.
  17. Thinking this is even more challenging than my attempt. Can't wait to see this come to the end Little H.
  18. Looking really good. 10 hours in? You may be cutting this fine, keep up the good work.
  19. I have no idea on the quality of this but admire your choice of a biplane. That alone is too many wings for me. Good luck
  20. I have decided that I will be building this for the build. Thanks to my LMS for preparing this for me, wonder what it is?. All I know is that it is not something I have built before (according to the shop owner) so should be a challenge as I may have to adapt paints etc. So far the plan is to open this just after lunch on the 25th with a finish line on the 26th. Who knows I may even get to have a sleep.
  21. I missed last year so will have to do something this time. I think that I will also have to mix it up a bit again. My plan is to go to my LMS and hand over some Queen portraits with instructions to wrap something up in wrapping paper. This will be opened on the 25th and finished by the 26th. Last time I tried this I over ran by three or four minutes so sounds like a challenge.
  22. Now that it starting to look like an aircraft (albeit an organised crash state) I getting on to the last few details before calling it done. First up is the undercarriage which will need new bay doors at the very least as the kit parts scale out at around 21cm thick (8 1/2" in old money) so out with some 10thou card and a bit of plunge moulding. Everything was going peachy until I stuck the first wheel on. I have no idea what I did but the wheel looks like some Frankenstein creation rather than a representation of meticulous engineering. This will not do so a bit of head scratching to come up with an alternative. Using some brass tubing, super glue and a severe case of "I think that is about right-ish" I knocked this up in a couple of hours. which quickly became 2 looking a lot cleaner. All I had to do then was remove the one I stuck on and replace with the new ones. and once in place seem to do the job. More to follow. Lemur out.
  23. This was a massive leap forward for the USAF into the jet age. When you look at the contemporaries in the UK and Germany the P-80 managed to combine a single engine with reasonable speed and manoeuvrability. With the thing in bits I decided to throw on some paint courtesy of Vallejo. You may also notice the little stand for the tail. My idea is for a little field maintenance diorama in Korea and thought they would make items rather than have manufactured stuff. Finally I stuck some decals on. Lemur out for now.
  24. It has been a awhile but I have actually been doing some more work on this, mainly in the cockpit area. Following on from the tub, I decided to try to improve the instrument panel a bit. The starting point was to make copy of the kit part in 20 thou card and then add a laminate with holes cut in to represent the dials. I used reference photos to work out the layout and guessed a variety of drill bits to give the impression of different dial sizes. Basic shape done by drawing round the kit part. Laminate with holes cut in. And the final painted part. Not 100% but near enough considering the limited space to see it. With the final layout in place. The seat is not yet glued in yet as it still needs a bit of work. With this in place it was time to glue the kit together a bit. It took a bit but eventually I managed to get everything lined up and stuck together. Oh, yes, the intakes are a reasonable shape but don't even fit where they touch! Cue much filling and sanding. The wings were then added before I hacked off the back end. This really is a point of no return but at least it won't be a tail sitter. More to follow. Lemur out.
