  1. I made MN252 for a friend whose grandfather was a pilot on 184 Sqn. That one was a bubble canopy with a three bladed prop. I see MN269 was lost when its bomb exploded in flight. Do you know why? The IWM photo looks like a four blader, however during March/April 1944 some aircraft fitted with four blades reverted to three blades to overcome some vibration difficulties. I dont know much more but its possible MN269 could at bsome point have been fitted with both types?
  2. For serial numbers, Xtradecal make some as do Colorado decals. Both of which are available from Hannants. What graphics program would you use? I'm just starting to dabble with Adobe Illustrator to see if I could make my own decals.
  3. Hi folks, looking for some red and white code letters to go on the side of a Fleet Air Arm corsair. Does anyone know if there are any decal manufacturers that do them in 1/48? I know xtradecal don't. I appreciate they come in a whole medley of different sizes. Specifically I'm looking for two 7's and two J's.
  4. Good start on the kit there. Which markings will you do it in? I have the Classic Airframes version to do at some point, probably in 18 Sqn colours.
  5. Another one from recently: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234982704-seafire-mkiii-from-airfix-spitfire-vb-seafire-xvii/
  6. !Very nice, It always stands out having an aircraft in a scheme your not used to seeing. Great job!
  7. Is there some good FAA gen in the first one? Im waiting for one to arrive in the post. From these folks: http://www.bookworldws.co.uk/aircraft-pictorial-7f4u-corsair-vol1-p-6520.html
  8. Its in Dana Bells new corsair pictorial, I can recommend it if you don't have it already. There are some great snippets of info regarding FAA corsairs.
  9. Interestingly, the Corsair MkII you have there was the aircraft in which Lt. N Hanson ditched after stalling on approach due to wake from the aircraft in front. I wish id knkwn it was this aircraft as I recently made one coded 147/Q as well. Good stuff
  10. Have never seen one of these before and I like it alot!
  11. Thankyou for your comments, it is much appreciated!
  12. Hi Folks, inspired by a visit to MCAS Yuma a few years ago and after having watched VMFT-401 'Snipers' at Yuma I decided to go for an F-5. The kit is the AFV ROCAF boxing with the platypus nose, so I elected to use Fightertown decals 'Adversary Ghosts' and make one in the colours of VFC-13 'Saints'. Its a lovely kit with very crisp detail. The kit was finished with enamels as Xtracolour make the darker blue and the rest were Humbrol.
  13. Great Typhoon, the weathering and finish look spot on! May I ask how you took the photos?
  14. Great footage, have seen this over on the armoured carrier website. Shows 1836 and 1834 Sqns, HMS Victorious 1945. Notice JT422 Corsair MkII, coded 8-B. Later this had T chalked before the 8. Suffered a heavy landing a few months on.
  15. Okay so a quick rig up with a new MkI and the wings from a XVII and this is what it looks like: Where the trailing edge meets the fuselage is a little differently shaped, nothing a little sanding wouldnt cure. As you can see the main upper wing join to fuselage is also slightly different. The biggest gap is on the underside where the lower wing half meets the fuselage but this part would be cut out anyway for the arrestor.
  16. I actually have a new mk1 and I must have a spare set of wings somewhere from a MkXVII kit I built a while ago so I may dig it out and have a look myself! I also have the old MkVb/Seafire kit which has plenty of spares and the arrestor hooks etc. They can be found fairly cheaply and are quite useful for the bits and pieces included.
