  1. And they came with good references, I wouldn't have noticed the change in shape of the blue by the tail hook without them. I have your Kestrel and Harrier sheet which I plan to use soon on another Monogram project, the AV-8B prototype.
  2. I've built the Weasel, great kit. I gave it to a friend but I do still have the Monogram single seater to build. Brass undercarriage is really all they need. Stay tuned Werner! Rafale A on the workbench and Mirage 2000 prototype already built It did which was good of them as there wasn't much inside the intake. It adds color and simplified the build as I would've stuck someone's seamless intake on it
  3. I'm a fan for the old Monogram 1/48 kits, they had so much more detail than other kits at the time. This kit I first built as a child, brush painted with some red paint that took ages to dry.... I've wanted to retry it and have had the kit in my stash for a while. After reading Robert Coram's book 'Boyd: The Fighter Pilot Who Changed the Art of War' did the trick and I was finally ready to dig out my 1979 Monogram F-16 kit and make what Boyd referred to as a pure fighter. The YF-16 at that point was more like his vision, not a multirole aircraft but light, fast and maneuverable. This project also got an F-18 prototype kit out too and was next on the bench, another Monogram kit from 1980. The F-16 kit is pretty close to the YF-16, it needs nose reshaping, cockpit/seat changes and some other little things but comparing my changes to profile photos it worked well. Vingtor decals were used. This shows how the nose got bigger with the radar on the production versions. And some minor differences from above And finally to my studio where the shelves are and I paint other things. If interested you can see my paintings here.
  4. Very nice! I'm a big fan of the old Monogram and have saved some of the WWII 1/48 kits with the retractable gear, folding wings, dropping bombs etc for my son.
  5. Another winner! Nicely done, I do like these weathered eggplant schemes.
  6. Nice work Werner, nice scheme to choose. The Esci kit looks better than expected up close! I did the Monogram 1/48 in the later white prototype paintwork.
  7. Looking good Serkan. I'd suggest lighten the darker parts of the vertical stabilizers so there's a bit less contrast. The tails are a tricky area figuring out the five colors along with the fading and light effects.
  8. I agree that it's fairly subjective. I suppose I just didn't see anything of the new kit that was overwhelmingly better. I'm still tempted, my kit is the YF-12 so a proper SR-71 would still be attractive. Overall I applaud Revell for coming out with a new build of such an amazing aircraft and will most likely get one.
  9. Are there any big advantages or improvements in the new Revell over the Testors/Italeri offering?
  10. Much obliged Serkan, here's a pic of the colors I used in the end. I used as many photos of 701 next to other aircraft to compare frequently used Russian colors.
  11. Respect! I've made this kit and know how tough it was to build it buttoned up but you've really gone to town dropping all the flaps etc and scratch building open weapons bays. Superb painting to finish, what an effort, great stuff!
  12. Bravo! Great idea and result. There's a 1/48 Wild Weasel Viggen a fella just made recently, you guys are on to something...
  13. The digital masking and painting process you showed is a clinic, fantastic job.
  14. Looks great! They've been flying a lot down here recently.
  15. Ammo's Su-35 paint set was the most insulting thing I ever bought. None of the colors were even close. I avoid their paint completely now.
  16. Love the Polish schemes. Did the HB fix the belly shape problems the KH kit has?
  17. Nice build! I'm deep into a dual builds of the same kit and a 1/48 UTG so I can appreciate all the riveting, scratch building and extra work you've done.
  18. That's a great finish, sensational. You're a riveting god.
