  1. Thank-you to everybody who took part, I was pleasantly surprised at the range of subjects built here - including a surprising selection of unarmed military types. A special thanks to the co-hosts @Pin and @JeroenS for their help here. The build list will be updated in a few weeks, please be patient here.
  2. The gallery closes tonight, but you could still finish this here..
  3. That looks like a good choice, welcome to the build
  4. Yes, helicopters would do nicely, Chinook or Huey/Iroquois spring to mind as options. It's harder to think of excluded helicopters (e.g. Cobra, Mil Mi-24/Hind) than eligible types.
  5. Very smart, that's a good-looking aircraft, a good choice, well built.
  6. Doesn't matter, there will be enough differences, and that, in itself, will be of interest.
  7. Looks as though there's a lot of work still to do? That should be OK.
  8. @Wez thanks, that's a good thought. If this doesn't make the cut, then yes, we can merge the builds.
  9. Everything so far has been done using an airbrush. The next bit, I decided to use a hairy-stick
  10. Thanks guys After the magenta, yellow ochre and white, and lots of airbrush medium (an acrylic binder used to for airbrushing) Thought I'd include a shot of the paints used so far - especially since I'm using an unusual brand (unusual for this forum). The top row (+ titanium white) were used on the car. The bottom three colours have been used on Akito's skin.
  11. Skin painting has started First layer, magenta (quinadricone) and white (1:5; the magenta is strong) Then straight magenta dabbed on
  12. That is very nice, the metal work is especially fine. Well done.
  13. Watched the coronation this morning. Masking the figure this afternoon. Usually, I'd go with masking tape, indeed, there is some Tamiya tape on her thighs, but I decided to experiment with blue tack. Given that there is a ridge denoting Akito's clothing, this made the process. Her current state: Defiantly scary. Flesh is not a flat colour. Look at your own hands, and assess how many colours you see there. Doesn't help that I plan to use an unusual approach, at least, experimental for me.
  14. Thanks guys. Before starting on the figure proper, a bit of practice with the airbrush. Akito is sitting on a car wing, which I decided will be yellow, which was underpainted pink: Following by a coat of yellow, which was wiped off with Dettol when I realised I'd forgotten where Akito would be sitting. So, more pink: Finally, some yellow with a shadow for our lady. And, yes, seeing that, I now realise we need a shadow for her sword
  15. Painting is going to be the main focus of this build, so I started with a priming coat. A lot of the paints I'll use are artist's quality, which have varied transparencies depending on the pigment used. Given the potential lack of covering power, black or grey base coats would introduce an extra layer of difficulty at this stage.
