  1. 10 hours work?? What the flippin 'eck do your models look like when you spend some time on them??!! That's a really nice build, well deserving of a commended, if not more! Thanks for a great reference thread too! I wish Hase would re-release the Beaus - I searched high & low in Telford & couldn't find one (& been watching e-bay for months & there hasn't even been one on there!). I bet someone will now say there was a stand at SMW with dozens of them........!! Great model Kyrre Keef
  2. That's just bl**dy lovely is that!! Great idea, brilliantly executed - what a real diorama should be (as if I'd know!! ) Excellent build!! Keef
  3. Grrrrrrr - oh for a 24th scale one of them!!!!!!!! (could build Tony Pond's Longleat lion cage car then!!) Anyway, I shall be doing one of the late, great Mr. McRea's Focuses (Foci??). Either the 99 Monte debut car, or a later tarmac tearaway. Keef
  4. Koool!! I'm in please! Now, shall I stick to my original choice of a rally car - or do 2 Jaguar group builds to finish next year??!! Still, plenty of time to decide......!! Keef
  5. Lookee here then; http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/catalog/pr...roducts_id=3530 or Bridgestone; http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/catalog/pr...roducts_id=4979 Them's only 7 & a half of our British pounds!! Keef
  6. Weeelllll, I'd certainly have at least a couple of 72nd JP's - as long as they were the 3/4 model (Airfix are rumoured to be in the throes of re-issuing their JP5/Strikemaster). And I might be interested in a 32nd scale JP 3/4 - even for a little jet 24th is too big for me. Although if the changes you make to the shape of the Frightning come out OK I could be well tempted to chuck some 48th scale stuff out to make room for one....!!! Keef
  7. Flippin eck, that (they!) looks good! Really nice detail work going on there Oz!! I really wish that Revell would re-issue this kit - I want one!! Looking forward to seeing this one finished! Keef
  8. Don't think so, Airfix guy said that they'd just been put there to 'fill up some space'!! And I agree about Rose - told the Airfix guy that too! He didn't mention the possibility of a future figure of Rose, so I hope that he just didn't know about it.....!!!! Airfix - we want Rose....!!!!
  9. Stupidly big as in I live in a 4 bedroom detached house & would have nowhere, not even the garage, big enough to put a shelf that would be wide enough to hold something the size of that Vulcan......!!!
  10. Absolutely agree. Same with the JP3 - I was chuffed when I saw that on there. And then well miffed when told by the Airfix guy that it wasn't being re-released......
  11. I'll third it. And I also hate to say it, knowing the effort that goes into these things, that the Lightning also looked pretty iffy shape wise. And I just might have been tempted by the latter if it was good, as it's one of my all time favourites & not stupidly big.... Keef
  12. I'd add to a shout for a 48th Hasegawa earth pig, but I'd be equally happy if they'd re-issue the 72nd ones! In the meantime,at Telford Academy were showing re-issues of the whole of their range of 48th 'varks. OK, I know it's not Hasegawa, but John has shown what he can do with such a mediocre kit!! (even if mere mortals like me can't!! ) Absolultely lovely work John! Keef
  13. That's just excellent! Absolutely brilliant job in such a short space of time!! Keef
  14. Verrrrrrrrryyy nice!!! Keef
  15. Williams Bros have recently re-issued their C-46, & by all accounts it's a pretty fair kit
  16. It probably is indeed. But I have to admit that being able to type 'ephiphany' & 'damascene' in the subject heading after 2 bottles of wine is mightily impressive!! I struggled & I'm stone cold sober.....!!!! :
  17. Count me in please Karl! I'll build a rally car (don't know which one yet - one of the 200 or so I have in stock ) I finally managed to finish my first road car build in over 5 years last month, & I need a good kick to get a competition car done again!! Cheers Keef PS another really good motorsport detail parts supplier (who does tend to do a bit more motorsport stuff than Steve at Hiroboy) is Wong at Media Mix in Singapore. Despite the distance I've never had to wait more than 7 days for delivery from him, its usually a lot less!! As usual, no connection other than a satisfied customer etc etc [as I also am of Hiroboy!!]) http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/catalog/index.php
  18. Aaaarrggghhh - bad timing!! The day before we leave for Telford !! Ah well, maybe I'll have a bit less to spend on the weekend now!! Keef
  19. I'd second that!! I'd definitely buy 48th modern bezels - & switch panels if you could do them too - off of you Mike!! Keef
  20. No they don't. WE own the roundels. And the MoD and ultimately the RAF, Army, Navy etc. WE being UK taxpayers of course. Without us, they wouldn't exist, would they??!! So any dosh made from these ridiculous marketing and PR exercises ahould be fairly & equitably spread amongst US!!! (so that we can buy more plastic kits to stick OUR roundels on!! ) Keef
  21. have you reversed the grey & green - cos that's my favourite deliberate mistake!! That finish looks really nice - do the Mr Color paints have the ''correct'' British colours (& names), or do you need to work out equivalents from a colour chart or somesuch? And what do you thin them with? I feel another Telford purchase coming on.....!!! The build is looking really good! Keef
  22. Derek, if you get five minutes spare I 'd like to say hello - I'll be on IPMS West Glamorgan's stand. We should be at stands 183-184 in hall 1. Hope to see you there! keef
  23. How on earth do I keep missing these excellent threads??!! My apologies Derek for not replying sooner as I was one of those who asked you to produce this article!! If it's ok with you, I'd like to print this thread out for future reference? Once again, I'm well impressed by what a superb result you are able to achieve with the simplest of materials! I have the materials, just wish it was as easy to acquire the skill as well!! Just one quick question (& apologies if you did mention it later in the article as I'm in work & haven't read it thoroughly yet), but in one of the first steps you mention temporarily sticking the two laminated blocks together. What adhesive do you use for this? I was thinking pva glue but wonder whether that's strong enough to withstand all the sanding stress?? Thanks again for the time you took in producing such excellent info & sharing it with us! Cheers Keith
  24. Excellent choice!!! One of my all time favourite films - probably because of the search sequence with the Sycamore! Lost count of the number of times I've watched the film on video! I'd definitely have one of those!! And to add to your excellent wish-list of 48th scale choppers I'll add a new tool Wessex family - if Revell won't re-issue theirs it leaves the door open for Airfix!! Keef
