  1. Ahh.....Black Nasty!...Remember walking into the armoury at Bruggen & seeing a certain SAC Davies with it wrapped around his head & gently trying to unwrap it!..The SNEC,Sgt Dave Hastings, wee Scots dwarf with a inferiority complex, grabbed hold of the end & gave it a good yank!
  2. Don't forget the Swarfega & the taped up romper suit....
  3. Especially in larger scales,I/72 I don't bother hanging the seats unless they are really bad...
  4. General, that rod mechanism is to ensure the rear part of the JP-233 container separates from the pylon in a certain way. Check your PM.
  5. Xtraparts do them but you'll need to google where you can get them from; http://www.arcair.com/Rev1/001-100/rev055-xp4803/00.shtm
  6. Very nice,...Now we all know the Falklands Vulcans carried SHRIKE anti-radar missiles, but what you may not have knows was that they nearly carried Martel AS-37 missiles, but because of something to do with the wiring looms, they were replaced by the SHRIKE.
  7. Very nice work indeed!..Cant fault it at all.... I take it the LGB's are Flightpath?...As I've noticed his LGB's are too square where they taper at the front, should be more rounded. Merv (RAF Armourer-retired)
  8. I have the reboxed Revell kit which is an old Monogram kit.Not bad for it's age but once again the Revell painting numbers rear their ugly head.....Instead of giving a color, they'd have you mixing them.... So can anyone provide me with the Humbrol equivalents please (reason I ask for Humbrol is I'm putting in an order to Airfix for a couple kits & may as well order the paints at the same time, plus they've about 37p a tin cheaper than my local hobby shop! This is the scheme I'm doing.. http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=565545 TIA! Merv
  9. Here you are mate; (Cant remember where I got them from credit to the owner of the images)
  10. Yup,that's what I meant.couldn't remember what it's called.
  11. They look like the Mk117 tails & the nose has the Mk960 MFBF fuze profile.
  12. Most stores, drop tanks, bombs, missiles ect,are blown off with the aid of gas operated rams which are initiated by explosive cartridges, these often serving a dual purpose by not only operating the rams but also unlocking the locking clamps in the eru, which are normally powered by 2 or 4 cart. But if they were to be used to eject a bomb from an overwing pylon, they'd have to be a lot more powerful to operate the rams.
  13. Use a sequin (available from dress makers shops) & stick a thin plastic rod thru the hole in the sequin that the thread to sew it onto a dress goes thru.Sequins are also useful for landing lights ect
  14. Only panels that'd be routinely open on the flightline would be the one in front of the Stbd wheel bays that access the ground controls & refueling port (can't remember the correct name for it) the access panel to the WSC where missile pins would be stowed (iirc) in front of the port intake & the groundcrew comms connection under the stbd intake. If the engines were running or ground power was on, the's a few small blow out cooling intakes/vents that open up (one each side of the nose near the nosecone, and another behind the Nav's cockpit on the port side. Although don't quote me as 100% accurate as I've never worked on the F3,only the GR1...And the ol memory's not what it used to be....
  15. Resurected this part finished kit of the Battlestar Galactica Viper & decided to do it in a sort of stealthy black,so I brush painted on matt black then took a rubbing cloth to it to give it a worn look, Next I'll attatch the guns, landing gear & touch up ect...
  16. Being worked on by a RAF JT Armourer while at a stop over at RAF Gutersloh while on excersise.
  17. A lot of wives clubbed together & bought like a 'unnoficial' package holiday to be with their husbands who were on dets when I was in the mob & often stayed at the same motel complex near the base we were at.
  18. Looks like he's been reading Dale Brown.....
  19. Simple,it's cheaper to build the jet as a standard fit than modify it for each customer. For example the Typhoons gun.The RAF originally didn't want it so they would have to manufacture a ballast to fill the void left by the cannon or re-write the fly-by-wire software to take the omitted gun into account. And THAT would have added thousands,if not millions,of pounds to the cost of each airframe. Much cheaper to carry on with the existing plans than modify them.
  20. Same as Bruggens jets,and the centerline pylon wasn't fitted,as Steff states,prior to Granby.Some RAFG jets,all with IFR's fitted. https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6162/6180380174_ffb0d5ac71_z.jpg http://www.airport-data.com/images/aircraft/large/000/437/437134.jpg http://www.airport-data.com/images/aircraft/small/000/437/437135.jpg http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/middle/8/2/1/0617128.jpg
