  1. The Clunk! I did so many of these when I was a kid. Really regret not buying up these and the arrows in 1/48 scale but who would have think how pricey they’d become. Always had some warpage on the wings but I’m sure you’ll fix all that up!
  2. I am intently following this one, wanted to do the exact same machine in the future.
  3. Well the instructions indicated the console gets put in AFTER the fuselage and nose comes together… well that is not the case so now I’m going to have to figure out how to fit the console in the nose without breaking or damaging the model. It seems apparent it’s a pretty tight fit so I’m thinking the razor saw is going to have to come out.
  4. Not much left for her. Some more weathering and then I’ll attach the uschi line and proper photos.
  5. This was not fun to put together as I had no way to avoid steps/ridge in certain areas or glaring openings. Many different types of glues were used and many clamps. Fortunately the nose cone has a seamless attachment to the fuselage, ut it still has quite the ridge on one of the mating surfaces. I don’t know how people make this kit with all metal paint schemes lol.
  6. Some work done on the interior today, need to flat coat and gloss the instruments and then I should be able to close up the fuselage!
  7. Gloss coats on and decals applied, finished up some minimal weathering. Now just going to add some chips and work on the exhaust staining and she will be finished.
  8. Good to see a Canadian voodoo, I was going to build one of the Kinetic kits but it’s junk. A lot of those aluminum birds were painted grey eventually but you’d have to double check the insignia changes to be sure.
  9. Have had a hard time nailing down the colours I want for the fuselage. Going over multiple sources, I’m still left at a loss. Tamiya XF-51 would be the closest to the starfighters that served in Canada however it is known that the Brit sourced paint was a more richer green in colour. Judging photos I am leaning on Vallejos NATO Green and hoping the wash subdues it a touch. Not sure if this accurate but I’m basing this off pics and FS numbers. The eduard photoetch avionics have the wrong gray so I’ll need to adjust that before I finish the cockpit tub up.
  10. Originally planned for a 101 Voodoo (but that kinetic kit is pure garbage) so instead I’ll jump in the big pool with what I’m sure is a lot of these starfighters. Building it OOB aside from adding a brass pitot tube, and of course in the 1CAG colours.
  11. I didn’t realize they had actual decals for it, but it’s pretty close to what-if. The prank was a good one when they wrote that article so I’m pretty excited to build it and share that entire storyline. We’re known for our practical jokes, so it’s aboot dam 🦫 time.
  12. Definitely aftermarket but still we’re a little thick, should have painted them I think. They’d be fine if the Japanese hadn’t painted over the flap actuators or control arms (whatever they’re called).
  13. Ok so I’ve already got a Fairey, a Jug, and a potential superhero plane ready to build. But I want to get another that nobody else will build. I need the group prime minister to decide if it’s ok. Hear me out. There was a program in the 60’s involving some Soviet Migs being used in Canada. Now vintage wings put out quite the information packet on this event surrounding the “RedHawks”. It was a real article posted April.1st but I’m not sure it would technically qualify for the builds allowed…
  14. The meatballs just don’t want to stay down. Thankful for repeated microsol and markfit if necessary. The gloss clear i used hazed up in some areas so I’m concerned how to move forward, another coat to hopefully make it go away or just proceed to a flat coat after weathering. Im not very happy with the fuel tank so may start to add some reverse weathering to the metal.
  15. Need to do some touch ups here and there. Surprisingly the brown didn’t have the best coverage so it took 3 light coats. Will see how the decals look for the leading edge bands, but most likely just going to paint it on.
  16. Sanding and filling was very minimal. However the IJA lower colour was finicky for me and I almost had to sand down and redo it. Thankfully all is not lost. Unsure if I’ll do the yellow leading edges first or the kakhi brown but that’s on the list for tonight. Top 5 beer I’ve ever had but I had to wait 7 years to drink it. 🤯
  17. She’s all together and now the sanding commences. The clear parts somewhat did not want to lineup and fit so they may be a little off. I’m ok with it as I’m not yet ready to tackle vacuform. Surprisingly tacking the fuselage to the wings was actually pretty much bang on and I doubt I have to worry much about those seams.
  18. There she is all flat coated and waiting to be put together. That Tokyo clay brown looks a lot better than I thought it would be.
  19. Did some more interior painting and touch ups here and there as well as the landing gear which isn’t really much at all. I have to do all the washes now and then the highlighting. Im not certain I can use the aftermarket exhaust I have as it’s having figment issues so will need to check up and if necessary modify the kit. I have a later Dinah they could be used for down the road. I went with an earlier model because I have a Gekko I plan on building and just like variety in the paint schemes.
  20. I left it off after spraying a coat of my interior green (mitsubishi) if I recall correctly. Dunked the canopy in Gauzy which really makes an impact. Did some photoetch to busy up the interior a bit more since I can’t open up the canopy. I lost the PE film for the instrument dials so had to do it by hand and also some vital PE for the flaps, and landing gear so I may have to forego hacking the flaps and will have to use what I can for the gear. No idea where those little things buggered off to. Was able to do some more fine detail painting and added some 3d seatbelts. Need to paint a bit more internally and then it’s on to the wash and a flat coat to seal it all in. Having some trouble figuring out how to install the aftermarket exhaust but for now I’ll just end up painting those up and start on the landing gear.
  21. 1/48 Tamiya Hyakushiki Shitei III Recon Plane Got a small head start trying to do this for the unarmed build but instead took a LoA. I'm still doing the aircraft of the 3rd Chutai, 15th Sentai, stationed at Taisho Airbase. Osaka, Japan. Nov, 1944. It will have the Khaki Brown, Army Grey Scheme.
  22. Absolutely count me in. Stalingrad, El Alamein, and Midway we’re all huge in 42
  23. Count me in for some Dessert!
