  1. That Airfix has been purchased by the Saudi Arabian investment fund and will release a full set of 1:24 Saudi Falcons
  2. I was a bit surprised to find a non-British manufacturer selling directly at an airshow. Much harder to find room for a large kit box in my backpack than just a book or magazine, so no purchase this time. Good selection of 1:48 jets left in the tent on Sunday. Left the tent in a hurry to watch the Me 262 in the air, and forgot to ask if they are progressing with the C-17 in 1:72.
  3. Begemot has released a new set of decals in 1/72 for the Ka-52 Alligator. They include helicopters of Russian units wearing the "Z" and V" markings used over Ukraine in the "Special Military Operation zone" 2022 and onwards as well as with Egyptian desert camo. http://www.begemotdecals.ru/showpos.php?&lang=2&pic=2&id=216 http://www.begemotdecals.ru/doc/72-069 Ka-52 ins1.pdf http://www.begemotdecals.ru/doc/72-069 Ka-52 ins2.pdf http://www.begemotdecals.ru/catalog/pic216b.jpg http://www.begemotdecals.ru/catalog/pic216b_1.jpg
  4. Hobby 2000 get sprues from Japanese and Korean manufacturers and add interesting decals before selling the kits at reasonable prices. I like...
  5. The Norwegian manned squadrons (330 & 333) operating Catalinas had many tasks in WW2, including convoy and anti-submarine patrols, SAR, landing and recovering agents from occupied Norway as well as long distance passenger flights including a couple all the way to Murmansk and recently liberated Kirkenes. Torpedo attacks on German shipping were planned, but in the end left to more suitable aircraft (Beauforts and Beaufighters)
  6. This one is almost as bad looking as the Farman Jabiru, another candidate for the ugly French aircraft group build.
  7. Ebay sellers are marketing a new release by Ukrainian Micro Mir. A 1/72 Italian CB Class Midget Submarine in injection moulded plastic. The CB class of midget submarines saw service with the navies of Italy, Germany and Romania during WW2 and captured examples were later used by Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union. One submarine is preserved in the Croatian Technical Museum in Zagreb and another one is in Trieste - the Civico Museo di guerra per la pace “Diego de Henriquez” Wikipedia on the CB class: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CB-class_midget_submarine
  8. For those who like What Ifs; Germany actively marketed various members of the He 100 family for export to European nations just as they had with the earlier He 112. So Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Dutch markings are possible.
  9. Already on eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/275819569697?hash=item403820a221:g:164AAOSwhhxkSXMi
  10. All four He 46 boxings were for sale at Moson this weekend. RS kits need a bit of traditional modelling skills when it comes to assembly, like measure twice and cut once and you will need sandpaper and bit of putty for the seams. They seem to improve in quality release by release - and their ranges both in 1/72 and 1/48 continues to grow. https://www.rsmodels.cz
  11. You can check the Master-X listing on Ebay. The selection changes once a week, so you may want to look again to see if your favourite is available. https://www.ebay.com/usr/luves43 The maker is located in the Czech Republic, it is half a century since they received a lot of unexpected Russian visitors,
  12. Hei, The book "Junkers W 33, W 34 and K 43- Workhorse in Peace and War" is sold out from the author - Lennart Andersson https://z-bok.se/gpage.html https://z-bok.se/catalog.22.html And the publisher - https://www.europeanairlines.no/product-category/new-books/ You can try Emailing the publisher, he sometimes has a few copies (second hand or new) that don`t make it to the web site - [email protected]
  13. Have you checked out the Kagero drawings of the Emden? https://sklep.kagero.pl/the-light-cruiser-sms-emden.html The DKM light cruisers have connections to Norway, Bits and pieces of the Königsberg is on display at a museum in Herdla (outside Bergen) https://herdlamuseum.museumvest.no/english/ And Karlsruhe rests in deep waters outside Kristiansand, images from a cable laying survey for Statnet https://kommunikasjon.ntb.no/pressemelding/oppdaget-unikt-skipsvrak-fra-andre-verdenskrig-pa-havbunnen?publisherId=89853&releaseId=17891336
  14. Not only Commonwealth aircrew trained on Fairey Battles in Canada, other Allied nations like Norway did also send trainees to units flying Battles. I did a detour from St. Johns to Ottawa to get a glimpse of the Battle in the museum there. Special Hobby did release a target tug / trainer version of the Northrop A-17 with Canadian markings, a rather more obscure type than the Battle. I am quite sure Frrom and Special Hobby have plans for releasing a target tug / gunnery trainer with Canadian / South African / Aussie markings, either with a new fuselage sprue and clear parts or with resin bits for the conversion.
  15. Linked in from an article in "the Aviationist" https://theaviationist.com/2020/10/28/first-flight-of-the-xb-51-the-weirdest-plane-youve-never-heard-of/
  16. I was hoping for decals to build Petlyakov Pe-2FT. 16/141 under restoration in Norway - the cockpit section is already finished. Pictures from the restoration on this link: https://www.toredgarolsen.net/petlyprosjekt.htm
  17. If Dekno manages to make a good representation of the corrugated fuselage and wings by 3d printing, I will be mighty impressed (and a customer).
  18. I think Trumpeter has covered all the major DKM ships that were built, the largest ones left are probably the K-class cruisers like Königsberg. So to continue producing models of vessels that sell well, they have to go for the ones that were drawn, but not built.
  19. I have their HU-16B Albatross kit. It is moulded in grey plastic with nice recessed panel lines and good detailing, Dry-fitting the parts shows that I will need some putty and sandpaper to get everything to fit. It is a good quality short-run kit that will need some old fashioned modelling skills to assemble.
  20. Could the set of B-29 engines from Metallic Details be used, or are there visible differences between the engines? http://metdetails.com/catalog/metalic-details/aircraft/172/md7204-detailing-set-aircraft-model-b-29 http://metdetails.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/product_full/images/1_0.jpg
  21. For me, one of the highlights is the 1:72 scale "Molch" WW2 midget submarine. A number of them were deployed to Norway just before the end of WW2 (Picture linked in from Wikimedia commons)
  22. It is already for sale on Ebay (Chinese seller) for approx 150USD https://www.ebay.com/itm/304752326180
  23. When flying with a Mi-8 in West Africa, I noticed an unusual waring sign next to the last cabin window. It was a no Kalashnikov sign, apparently no shooting out of the window allowed (to avoid hitting the undercarriage). Signage was a properly designed decal, not looking homemade. The detailing set has an AK mounted there as well.
  24. I am even more impressed by the pilot in the background using an ejection seat to leave his burning Hawker Tempest.
  25. It seems like Airfix is managing to keep the forthcoming releases a secret this time: I still thinks a Gannet in 1:48 is a good guess. For the large kit HMS QE in 1:350 scale Avro Manchester or Lincoln in 1:72 B-29 Washington modified from the Academy kit in 1:72 WW2 aircraft 1:48 or 1:72 F4U Corsair clipped wing for FAA Grumman Hellcat Grumman F7F Tigercat Hawker Fury II Westland Lysander Messerschmitt Me 410 Cold War aircraft 1:48 or 1:72 Gannet Hawker Hunter SEPECAT Jaguar Trainer 1:48 or 1:72 T-6 / Harvard or Avro 504K Helicopter 1:72 AW-101 AW159 Wildcat WW1 aircraft 1:72 BE2f - new wings for the BE2c Avro 504 bomber Sopwith Camel
