  1. Wouldn't it be great to model the aircraft you jumped from? Some years ago, I was lucky enough (or well managed enough %~)) to fly from a local grass strip to an airshow in Victoria's rural Western District aboard this magnificent aircraft. A highlight was a slow flight demonstration (50kts?) which deployed the leading edge slats with a thump. Can't wait to model one with slats, flaps and flaperons akimbo, comrades.
  2. Really good result. I like the use of photo backdrop and landscaped baseboard very much.
  3. Another good weathering exercise, not over done. Nice job.
  4. Nice. I particularly like the low key weathering.
  5. Linds. I too am recently returned to modelling the plastic fantastic. Strewth! Where did all these manufacturers come from? I'm still getting used to Matchbox coming on the scene. Last time I indulged, Monogram were exotic. I did have a considerable stash collected over many years, waiting for my retirement, which has finally arrived. Alas, all but one were lost in a fire (a not atypical Australian story, me fears). The only survivor is an AFV Club AFV, the most fiddly and ludicrously detailed kit I've ever taken on and a real challenge for this returnee. But I'm enjoying myself, have erected a cabinet to keep the dust off the treasures, begun carefully rebuilding a modest stash, and am flirting with the concept of an airbrush. How come all the scale pilot figures have faces like Jimmy Carr's? Good luck with the Battle of Britain air fleet.
  6. Recently returned to modelling, I thought I'd treat myself to a cabinet dedicated to the little plastic fantastic jobbies. I settled on an Ikea Billy bookcase with Oxberg glass door, offering 6 shelves with internal dimensions 36x26cm, A$140 or about 75 quid here in Oz. Comedians may make fun of the flatpacks, but I found it well engineered and a sinch to assemble. What else would you expect from a modeller? The names Ikea chooses for its products is another matter. Billy Oxberg; Ikea bookcase, Olympic swimmer or Aldi cheese?
