  1. Great project Tim. Hope to be doing the same myself in the near future. I can highly recommend this book if you get the opportunity to buy, beg, borrow or blag a copy. http://ultra.glo.be/daco/KDCB004.html I bought a copy from the Daco stand at Telford this year. It's crammed full of colour pics of all the differences between the various models, often on the same page so you can directly compare the differences. I think a conversion set would be very popular especially now the Cutting Edge sets are like rocking horse poo. Keep up the good work
  2. Chaff and flare doors. Lot of Phixers on here these days
  3. If you live near a scuba-diving shop in the UK, you will find that many of them sell lead shot by the Kilogram. Divers use it to fill their weightbelts. The shot is fairly fine and ideal for packing into awkward shaped spaces. I mix mine with araldite to keep it securely in place. Buying in bulk is a lot cheaper long term than buying smaller amounts from an angling shop. A few Kilograms will be enough to last for many, many models
  4. http://www.just-bases.co.uk/ Good company. I'm sure they'll be able to supply you quickly if you explain the circumstances.
  5. You're welcome Shaun. You could fit the pin and flag though if you like. They were usually fitted on the ground as a matter of safety, even if live chuff and fluff weren't loaded
  6. The chaff and flare dispensers on the F4J(UK) where positioned on the side of the fuselage. You can see the safety pin and flag in this shot The next shot shows a better view. It is the door directly above the orange spot on the side of the fuselage The doors were in identical position on both sides of the aircraft and as far as I remember flare was usually loaded on one side and chaff on the other. The door was hinged at the top and could be opened by selecting a switch in the rear cockpit. The door could also be opened manually by removing a small panel on the left of the door (you can just see it in the above picture) and then inserting a special "tommy bar" to break the geometric lock which held the door shut. 7. Just completed this one so thought I'd post a few pics. It's a Gloster Meteor F4 of "Grupo 2 de Caza Bombardeo" based at BAM Moron, Argentina, in ealy 1960. The model is made from the Classic Airframes 1:48 kit with aftermarket decals from Condor Decals. I masked and airbrushed the roundels on this one which was a first for me and I think they turned out ok. I went through a considerable amount of Tamiya masking tape doing all the stripes. It was good fun peeling it all off though! Here is a link to the first one of the pair for anyone interested........ http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...rgentine+meteor Hope you like them and as usual all comments both critical and otherwise are very welcome. Gary
  8. Aah, thanks for that Ian. I'll give that a try when I get around to mine. It looks to have worked well. Good luck with the rest of the build, looking forward to further progress Gary.
  9. Hi Ian, Good work so far and a great subject you've chosen. I'm interested in how you filled the panel lines on the new nose before you rescribed it. Can I ask what you used to fill the old lines? I was thinking of maybe using normal filler when I get around to attempting mine but was a bit worried about it crumbling as I rescribed over it. Did you have any problems? Gary.
  10. Ah, that's an easy fix. Simply change the middle digit of "200" into a "6" using a very fine brush. Not 100% perfect but still a lot more accurate than just leaving it as is! Gary
  11. What a great looking model. An outstanding finish you've achieved there Matthew Gary.
  12. Lovely job. That's turned out very nice Sandy. I think the PJ pilot really sets it off too.......... he looks most realistic. Just out of interest, have you any idea what the stores are that are carried under the refuel probe? Great work chap, she's a beauty! Gary.
  13. Superb! Love the effect you've achieved on the streaking Gary.
  14. Lovely job you've done on that Tim. I really like that Gary.
  15. White glue works well too. Fill the gap and then smooth off with a wet finger. Easy peasy!
