  1. Yet another model needing 5 mins painting after a week of masking so here the Dark Sea Grey is added to the airframe and tanks. I used EDSG for some variatioin in the base coat and will try to add some variation to the white when the masking comes off.
  2. Based on my recent Seaking HU4 build I decided to stick with the initial white coat and add the grey over the top. This scheme essentially has white over the green for the std wraparound scheme but there was no hard and fast rule and no 2 pictures seem to tie up so I followed the Airfix plans with a few variations based on the subject aircraft. Base white coat Masking of the white Ready for paint
  3. Hi All I'll be jioning in with this interesting gem. Snowy with Jaguar to finish before going dark with this though!
  4. I have been progressing this Jaguar but spending a lot of time organising the IPMS Salisbury show has held up progress. I actually thought Id taken more pictures but looking at this tonight its well advanced for the first post but here's where we are now. The kits is excellent with a really tight neat fit in many places. The cockpit fits to the fuselage like the old Frog jag did but much better. I did need a wipe of filler under the air intakes and a bit more under the central fuselage. Detail in the wheel wells is excellent which is a shame as they were generally closed when on the ground. Likewise Airfix has the flaps and slats extended which is another no no for a parked jag. I only ever saw one with flaps down at an airshow and the pilot told me it was a disciplinary if they parked it up without retracting the flaps due to the risk of injury to the ground service crew. There are 2 seats and a range of aerial fits which make this an even more interesting kit.
  5. Well what a varied GB we have! 2 jets and a tank in the gallery so here goes the first car over the line. This is Revells 1/24 scale E type Jaguar as released in 2025. This build was for the soft top as I built the coupe a few years ago when it first came out but had to wait until last year for the cabriolet. The kit was moulded in British Racing Green which looked good but I decided to stick to red for my Jags! Thanks to@flying badger for the idea and to @Enzo the Magnificent as ever. Cool arctic cat next! Build thread is here Colin
  6. Well now the wheels are on and I'm calling this done. The convertible was the subject of this build but I did the coupe a while ago and added it here for interest. More pictures in the gallery Thanks for joining in and to all thoase who commented along the way.
  7. As the E-Type comes to a close its time to use the Bank Holiday sunshine to prepare the next kit. This is the new Airfix 1/48 Jaguar GR1. I actually liked the old Airfix GR1 and built 2 in the desert scheme and a 2 seater with a Maintrack conversion nose in the wrap around Ero scheme. Pic of the parts. The detail looks great so if it fits together like the Seakings then should be a treat. I'm planning to do the Norwegan scheme for 54 Sqn. This and the Arctic HC4 Seaking have been on the list for ages so it's great to get them done quite soon after each other. The HC4 was in the 'Unusual Schemes GB' to give me more time in this GB.
  8. Made some more progress on this over the weekend. This convertable hasnt gone together as well as the FHC I made earlier and the bonnet (hood) is much harder to open and close.
  9. I remember the 10th anniversary with my Hunter Mk10 so I'm up for this next year. RAF number 20 squadron flew the Bristol F.2 Fighter, Hawker Hurricane, Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hunter, SEPECAT Jaguar, Panavia Tornado and Harrier so one of these will be made as most are in the Stash Colin
  10. These car kits are very engrossing. You sit for 5 mins and 2 hours later you've suddenly done a lot..
  11. A slow start to this GB as I have finished an Airfix 1/24 Harrier which took a while. I have made a start on the Jag though but not much to show for it yet. The red one is the original hard top version from Revell made about 3 years ago
  12. My first cool Cat will be the recently released Jaguar E-Type convertible. Kit as per below with the moulding in British Racing Green. Looks good without painting? I'll probably do it red like a proper sports Car though
  13. A few more finished pictures but no room in the gallery
  14. Westland Seaking Arctic Junglie Airfix 1/48 The scheme is the arctic stripes from Norway in 1996 but still assigned to IFOR. The 2nd IFOR in the gallery after @John Masters Landy above. I had planned this for the 'unusual schemes GB', then the 'Cool Cats GB' and now is just right for the mid 90's. We have lots of overlap in this years calendar which is most fortunate! Decals from Model Alliance which date back a few years but not to the 90's This is basically from the Airfix kit HC 4 kit released last year. I added some minor parts to the cockpit and Eezy line aerials but the rest if OOB. Overall I'm very pleased with this and really think Airfix did a great job on this one. Thanks to the Mods @modelling minion and @81-er for the idea and to them and all those who chipped in or gave a like along the way. Build thread is here. Arctic Seaking I'm off to the Cool Cats now for which this was my original planned entry but I believe the RAF did this to a Jag.... Colin
  15. Moving on a bit most of the aerials and other easy to knock off bits now added. The tail and main rotors have been done so ready for decals
