Hi, does anyone know the quality of the CC Lee kits, esp the M1A1 Abrams? I saw one in a bookstore for £2.99 and wondered if I should get it as a quick build.

Cheers

If it's the one I think it is, my son has the Leopard in the same series. It's well detailed but simplified build, a bit like an ArmourFast kit - give me a minute or 2 and I'll see if I can take a couple of photos.

Thanks Daz, see evilbay item 160425958735 to see the box, maybe I should go get it just to check it out

He's in the process of building this kit, but here are some quick and dirty shots of the model:

The quality of the moulding and the surface detail is very good indeed.

Thanks John, it does not look too bad, certainly not for a part time armour builder like myself

Daz I saw mine at The Works

I think they're the "knocked down" versions of the ready built models that appeared with a part-work magazine on tanks a couple of years ago. This one came from The Works just before Xmas, along with a 1/35th scale Challenger which was an exceptional bargain at £5.99. The Challenger looks like a superb kit.

I don't think they are, John. My son has a Pzkw IV from that series, and it's a die-cast metal model with a "low-relief"

track and suspension.

I bought a CCLee 1/35 Leopard for £5.99 just before Xmas, from The Works, my other son built it, it seemed a super

kit. I saw a review somewhere on the 'net that said it was a copy of a Heller kit, and not to bother as it was the worst

1/35 Leopard around, and might be useful for spare parts! Unfortunately, I can't find that website now. 15 mins Googling

hasn't turned anything up!

:deadhorse:

Still. it seemed like a good kit to me.

Thats interesting to know, I thought the magazine models were plastic.

I'm not sure what the provenance of the 1/35th Challenger is, but it looks nice in the box. My not-too-discriminating 10 year old won't be too bothered by it either way!

the 1/35 challanger is a copy of the tamiya kit, slightly more flash but exactley the same, this instructions has photocopied tamiya ones with a square of paper over the tamiya logo

not sure about the leopard kit,

in 1/72 there is a panzer, mm1a1 and a couple more, i bought them all for my lad they arnt bad to build

they were on sale in the works after chrimo there may be a few left but not many, i think you missed the boat with them, they went on sale with the other copied kits, hawkeye, su27.... do not on any account buy the su27 its a bag of :shit:

The Works in Falkirk had 3 1/72 Leopards this afternoon, so they're still around.

Thanks John, I went and bought the M1A1, no other kits in our local The Works. I will check the kit quality later
