David H Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I wonder if there's any connection between the Sea Vixen and whoever tooled/ designed the 72nd scale Trumpeter Wyvern. By all accounts its a great kit. I think somebody over there has a passion for FAA subjects. Others, no doubt know more. david
Jennings Heilig Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I wonder if there's any connection between the Sea Vixen and whoever tooled/ designed the 72nd scale Trumpeter Wyvern. By all accounts its a great kit. I think somebody over there has a passion for FAA subjects. Possibly, but I doubt it (but anything is possible). The really good stuff that Trumpeter has done along that line - the Wyvern and the F-107 - were kits initiated by Mono Chrome in Japan, and tooled by Trumpeter for them. Mono Chrome markets them in Japan, and Trumpeter elsewhere in the world. The way it was described to me, Trumpeter cut them a deal on the kits in exchange for rights to market them outside of Japan. DamienB Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Please let it be a better attempt than the Xtrakit monstrosity Or else
Tony C Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 What, nobody mentioned the 1/32 Dornier Do335....? (Bottom of page 4) I'll have one!
Miggers Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Please let it be a better attempt than the Xtrakit monstrosity Or else Too right Damien. Still haven't got around to my Frog/Revell/Aeroclub D.3 yet,so I may just wait and see what Dragon can come up with. You don't think they could be borrowing Xtrakit's moulds do you? Mark
Charles Dykas Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Gentlemen: Aside from the undersized seats and routine "fit' issues, is the Xtrakit Sea Vixen really that bad? I have obtained the kit and several of Azee's resin update sets to make it better. I have confidence in my skills, so the question on the table is " is the announced Dragon Sea Vixen worth waiting for or should I just proceed with my Xtrakit example?" Chances are that I will build only one example so I want to make it the right one. Of course no one has seen the Dragon example so the real focus is whether the Xtrakit is buildable?
DamienB Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Suggest you take a look at my build thread: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16770 Depends how many of the faults bug you or not really but I certainly don't fancy building another one.
