AnonymousDFB1 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 (edited) Whilst a couple of other builds are setting/drying and following my successful venture into the world on 1:72 with the airocobra. I thought I would throw build this one up for tables at Telford. I have a feeling that this one won't take long! Edited August 4, 2009 by Mish

BigReg Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Mish, This looks like a speed build --it takes me longer just to open the box! David
AnonymousDFB1 Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 It's not a difficult kit by any means I reckon I could finish it in 24 hours if I wanted.
ollieholmes Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 This is looking very nice so far. I nearly brought one of these today to build.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) This mornings work, sanded down the joins and put a little paint on them to make sure they won't show. More later... Edited July 31, 2009 by Mish

Stebos Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Good to see this one coming together. Nothing like relaxing with a simple OOB build.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 Yep the one I got from you Steve, very simple and relaxing, good for honing techniques on. Started the decaling this afternoon, Typical airfix, very thick! But going on well. More later....
ollieholmes Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Starting to look nice now. Did you think of painting the stripes on?
AnonymousDFB1 Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 Starting to look nice now. Did you think of painting the stripes on? I did but it went so wrong last time I tried it :shithappens:
ollieholmes Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I did but it went so wrong last time I tried it :shithappens: What happened?
AnonymousDFB1 Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 What happened? Masked up the wrong dimensions and then the paint got under the tape
AnonymousA667 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 That always happens to me. But if I try using decals then: 1. The white is never properly opaque. 2. They never fit properly. peebeep
alex Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Try spraying the stripes before the camouflage: since there's no dark colour underneath, the white is quite shiny, and if you got camouflage colour running under the tape protecting the stripes, it looks like the stripe colour is peeling off, adding some realism. They never fit properly. peebeep Paul, with this one, even though the film is quite thick with repeated coats of microsol the film is showing through the EDSG and i was surprised the decals do fit plus they give you a bit of spare!
AnonymousDFB1 Posted August 2, 2009 Author Posted August 2, 2009 Got up early this morning and did a little more decaling before going out for the day. More later...
