Admiral Puff Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 For my "build a few Aussie/Kiwi Friendships in 1:72" exercise I have arranged to get some main undercarriage sets made in cast metal, to replace the wholly fanciful Airfix offerings. I'm told the master will be good for about 300 sets, which is far more than I will need. If anyone wants a set or two, please PM me - they will be $AUS5 per set (plus postage) and it will take about a month for the order to be processed. I'm not getting the nose leg/wheel done - although the kit offering isn't brilliant, it's good enough to get by. You don't see all that much of it when the aircraft's sitting on its undercarriage anyhow.

Kev1n Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I could do with a pair of those - I have two afx 1/72 Friendships.....whats wrong with the main legs?
Admiral Puff Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Will you be posting pics of the parts when they are done?Jens Yes.
Admiral Puff Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 I could do with a pair of those - I have two afx 1/72 Friendships.....whats wrong with the main legs? They're seriously oversimplified, so that Airfix could make them retract (which really wasn't all that much use, as the doors had to be "located and cemented" in place ...). As a result, they bear only a passing resemblance to the real thing. The best that can be said of them is that they stop the model's belly from dragging on the ground. If anyone else wants any, please let me know smartish - I intend putting an order in at the weekend.
jenshb Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I'd be interested in a pair, but I would like to see before buying:) Jens
garryrussell Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 It's probably true to say that all such things were simplified to a degree in those days of hand made masters.
CarLos Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I'd be interested in a pair, but I would like to see before buying:)Jens Same here! Can't you provide pics of the master?
richellis Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 hi, Ill take a couple, Im about to PM you as well...
madaboutmodels Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 i work at a museum with a herald and fokker F27, i can get soem photos for the walk around section if any one wants me to. Thanks Bradley
Admiral Puff Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 Same here! Can't you provide pics of the master? Here y'go: Note that the injector pin marks have been removed since this picture was taken. The idea is that the kit mounts inside the nacelle are ground away, and the bar at the top of the main leg is glued to the nacelle roof. A bracket will be required to mount the top of the trailing arm inside the forward part of the nacelle - the arms on the part are a bit long, and can be trimmed to suit.
jenshb Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Could I make one suggestion? Extending the lengths of the wheel axles and perhaps make them thicker too - this will give a more secure fit of the wheels although one may have to open up the holes in the wheels a little. How much is postage for two sets to the UK? Jens

Admiral Puff Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) If Jens agree, I would like to add one set to his order. Him and I can exchange parts and money later.Nils Jens - I'll see what I can organise. Problem is that the masters have already been posted off, but I may be able to get them changed. Will advise. Postage and packing for three sets (as per Nils' post) would be $AUS3.25. Nils - I'm happy with that, as long as Jens is OK with it. Regards DC Edited March 30, 2012 by Admiral Puff
Admiral Puff Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 You take PayPal?Jens Yup. Will advise details when I have the product in hand. DC
madaboutmodels Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 does anyone want some photos in the walkaround section?
Vingtor Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Nils - I'm happy with that, as long as Jens is OK with it. Jens has confirmed - to me at least. Nils
Admiral Puff Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) does anyone want some photos in the walkaround section? If you've got any to share, that would be great. I'm planning a trip to Adelaide some time shortly to photograph and measure the one in the museum there. There's another one up in Queensland, but I don't feel like putting the clock back 50 years to look at it ... :-) Edited March 30, 2012 by Admiral Puff
stevehnz Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I'd sure be keen to have a set of these legs. There is definitely an RNZAF F.27 in my future. Please lets know when these are ready, we're away for a couple of weeks from the end of the week coming but can sort it with paypal after that. Steve.
Admiral Puff Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 OK you lot - any more for any more? The order goes in tomorrow ...
Kev1n Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 ok I'll have two sets for my two afx 1/72 friendships dont use paypal tho' so how do you want to deal with it, and whats the price in UK £ ?

Two sets with P&P comes to about 8.55 UK pounds at current exchange rates - this may vary a bit by the time the parts get to me in about a month, but it would only be a couple of pence. I'll have a think about how to organise payment and get back to you. DC
stevehnz Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Hi DC, better make it two sets for me, just in case I stuff one up or get an insane urge to build an NAC friendy as well. Steve.
