moaning dolphin Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Greetings Chewitt She's looking very nice. I started this one about 2 years ago building as the Blake but have stalled in the final straight. Sure is a different looking ship! Cheers now Bob Edited May 13, 2009 by moaning dolphin
Graham T Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Weren't Tiger & Blake articulated in the middle? Or am I thinking of another vessel?
Alan P Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Weren't Tiger & Blake articulated in the middle? Or am I thinking of another vessel? I know Blake was, hence the nickname "Snakey Blakey" due to its wiggly wake! I went on board Blake several times from 1974-76 when my Dad was on it, including a memorable and hilarious school trip! I've made this kit for him before, it's a little gem. All the best with it Chewie Al

gengriz Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Hi Chewitt - Nice model; I've got a soft spot for these ships too, having visited TIGER in Leith Docks in the distant past, and BLAKE in Chatham, whilst in reserve, then seeing them sitting on the trots at Portsmouth for years. I see from your profile that you live in "Spaghetti Bay"! - Did you know that HMS LION (C34), Tiger and BLAKE's sister ship was scrapped and broken up just round the corner from you in St Davids/Inverkeithing during the early 1970s - when parked in St Davids she was visible from right across the Forth and still an impressive sight. I can remember sailing into Inverkeithing bay to have alook at her (showing my age now), but turning around because the water coming out of Inverkeithing was so dirty and brown! FredT

Chris Hewitt Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Back to HMS Tiger must finish her Flight deck ready
Alan P Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Stunning amount of detail for such a tiny kit. And your neatness with those railings is fantastic.
gengriz Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Excellent job. Love the Phalanx, Exocet & SCOT. FredT
TinHead Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Nice build! I had hard difficulty trying to track one of these down, anyhow I managed to find a russian kit of the Tiger, pre conversion. My step dad served on the tiger (after the conversion to helicopter/commando cruiser) during the 70's, he was a PO in Electronics Warfare. He was highly fond and proud of her '6 inch guns'! AR
