Hi there...

Finished this this morning, and I thought I'd post up some pics. Got this kit at D1 ( the Irish Nationals this year ) and I couldn't resist making an aircraft with a Turbo Jet and a Prop! This aircraft was submitted by Blohm & Voss as a potential successor to the Ju-87. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't successful, and the Me262 was chosen instead. It actually has a radial engine from the Fw190, and the turbojet designed for the Me262. It never got built, which is just a shame, would have been interesting to see if the design worked!

It's all out of the box, with some nice detail in the cockpit ( including two throttles! ), engine and bomb bay, and brush painted as usual. The pics aren't great, sorry. As usual, all comments / criticisms are more than welcome. Thanks!

Very nice and unusual, love the radial with the covers up!

I know nothing of the subject but I wonder what they were after with the two different engines? Would have been interesting to see if it flew !

Thanks Si!

I think the concept was that the radial would give it good take off / landing performance ( where the Me262 was weak ) and then the turbo-jet would give it performance at altitude. Would have been fun trying to balance the power from the two engines successfully while flying!

That's certainly different, very nice indeed!

BritModeller is a funny place: I built an Arado 240 for my nephew 3 months ago, liked it & bought one of these from EvilBay straight after. Both very esoteric subjects, & both put on here on the same day....

Really tidy build, there Sir. Any pitfalls i should look out for along the way?

Thanks everyone!

No real issues to report Prowler. I did have some problems getting the tail plane to be properly horizontal, it wanted to lean a bit to one side. Nothing that some scrapping of plastic and then taping while glued didn't fix. Gluing the open engine covers can also be a bit fiddly, but that's it. It's a nice kit, goes together well, has some nice detail and looks bloody weird! :)

Cracking build Jason - the splinter camo looks great and that split code 'A' on the bomb bay door is ace; lovely attention to detail.

You've got me looking at the Luft '46 stuff again now!

Cheers,

Thanks a lot lads. Was a bit worried about the decals on the bomb bay, but I just taped it in place, did the decals and then sliced them afterwards. It actually worked pretty well in the end...
