3rd coat sprayed

Hopefully that is it for airbrushing. Been a tad awkward on this project. Am concerned that any more will obscure the panel lines and there is still the green pattern to do.

Site inspection (and wretched litter pick) at work. A chance to mull over what's next etc.

The panel lines aren't very deep on this, so a pin wash is essential. After a couple of overall washes.

Research has shown the wheel wells and associated covers are white inside, so that's a job for this week. Along with hubs, tyres, struts and other details.

Off out now to pick more 5h1t up...

Keep smiling 😑

Thanks! That second one is superb.

I remember watching them do touch-and-go landings at an airfield when I was in my very early teens. Plane after plane. Quite a racket.

I have it in mind that that was Lincolnshire...?

Probably Scampton or Waddington. BTW, I'm a Leicester ex pat too, Grew up in Wigston. I now live just North of Scampton.

First coat of green pattern applied.

Took ages!!! Am so glad this and the Victor are 1/144.

Off to get lunch, thru the slush, with my daughter now. Am always sad when the snow starts to melt.

Second coat of green pattern applied with a brush.

Mostly okay, but a couple of areas need a third layer (groan...).

Enamel dries streaky if you wet it too much.

Hmmm...

I don't like the idea of airbrushing pattern in small scale as the feathered edges would be huge, scaled up, so brush painting seems a sensible option.

The finish ain't great though. Washes and varnish should help. But the paint goes on thicker than it should and tends to misbehave.

Masking?  Agreed that the feathered edge would be too broad otherwise.

Yeah. A real pain downstairs. Getting the sinuous edges etc. And, with just one more to do like this it's a bit late to change now..!
